  1. You treat a car in the same way as a house. This is partially the point. I'm not advocating 10x income mortgage, that said of course with a house the value cannot be quantified in manner you seek to some extent. A million pounds for a house in Yeovil. If someone values it so and your investment appraisal falls short. So be it.
  2. You are making value judgements on a house. Good luck.
  3. Regress into paranoia to satisfy and continue the gamble.
  4. There is simply no competition, its like saying a person who buys a gold wedding ring is silly because they are competiting against all those gold speculators prevalent on this forum. You do not and cannot understanding this concept. Like a gambler cannot have a meal/drink in a casino and enjoy it as it is. The gamble is everything.
  5. You are are gamblers in the same way as many a BTL'er is a gambler, in the same way as many a naive (chartist?) investor is a gambler. You met many a better gambler. To bet house prices are going to go up is no different to betting they go down. You are still in the game but exhibiting a tendency for compulsion. The losing run must end soon?. I'll stick to my quid on Betfair .
  6. Firstly, if your wife is still training to ACA then to expect to afford a house is something, I certainly couldn't years ago and I accepted it as I was still training, had to start somewhere. Secondly, if you bet on house prices, this is a potential outcome. Accept it. You gambled, and lost. Don't gamble again. Thirdly, you parents offered you a big some of money, many, including mine never were in a position. You lucky sod. Does that put things in perspective.

  8. It was more ooh look the markets crashing, if it crashes, i'm better off renting. Ill put my life on hold (ish) for five years and potential save £XK. I think this will happen. Counter argument historic average increase = 6% hence FCUKED.
