  1. I have lived in Sth / Central America, wife is from Central America, fluent in Spanish. I would not go to Nicaragua full stop. Have friends with business interests there and they pay for armed protection to avoid kidnapping.
  2. Nothing like been fashionably late to a party... 5 years too late!
  3. On the subject of BTL'ers been in it for the long term... I think it is remarkably easy to hold an investment for the "long term" when you are in a raging bull market and seeing YOY gains... I am intrigued as to how many will be in it for the "long term" when everybody else is running for the exits? How many are true investors prepared to hold, and how many are speculators counting on equity gains who will puke at the first sign of a fall... we shall no doubt find out. As Warren Buffet says, when the tide goes out, we shall see who has been swimming naked...
  4. This is so true... the now common phrase "undervalued"... assuming that property in all countries will eventually rise to US / UK levels perhaps? We have seen a massive rush of speculation on Panama for example, my wife is from there and we lived there for 4 years, now Americans / Brits are paying $2-500,000 for hundreds if not thousands of LUXURY apartments off plan that are sure to appreciate at 10% per year... yeah right... 40% of the population lives under the poverty line and the average wage is around $400 per MONTH... who are these speculators ever going to sell to when they want to realise their "gains"???
