  1. I am just going to vent for a while and then go away, what can you do faced with such stupidity. but I just think that some people on here, waving the 'land of hope and glory' banner should realise there are a lot of pissed off people that did not ask for this and definitely did not want to happen. this chasm wont heal very quickly if at all. I am just so ashamed of my countrymen/women for being so short sighted. I am not broke, far from it, but my retirement fund has taken a good kicking in the last few days, and the possibility of retiring to an EU country is now in doubt.
  2. Thank you for your input, you capture very nicely the articulatory skills of an above average brexter, a below average ones cant type and can barely speak.
  3. Well talk about well thought out, my wife's hairdresser, on the 23rd, when my wife asked her if she was going to vote, the reply was 'yeah I think so but I don't know who yet' FFS, I bet she had trouble spelling 'X'. I think many people, and probably rather more on the out side did not really think things through. Lets see how they feel when they are unemployed. There is a lot of 'fascist' behaviour, with 'outers' targeting 3rd generation descendants of immigrants telling them 'now you must leave' I fear many of the out oiks took the wrong meaning of leave and mistook leave the EU for immigrants or those that look like they might be immigrants must leave, if that is not fascism I don't know what is. A truly sad state of affairs. It is a sad indictment of humanity that we are building barricades instead of bridges, this poorly thought out protest will not make the world a better place, and will be reversed when the next generation can vote.
  4. I am not Sorry but I have got to vent. A message to Brexiters. You are in the main and your whole sorry movement are a bunch of thick fascist racist short sighted uncultured OIKS. Yeah there is loads wrong with the EU, but if you want one reason it is worth while, go and look at the war graves in Northern France.
  5. What a fantastic deal, well thought out. HPC people should be prasing this. For some of the perma-losers on here, it would be worth 'getting on your bikes' and putting a bid in, stoke is not that bad, equally commutable to either Manchester or Birmingham.
  6. Interesting person from population matters just now. The UK can only support 17 million not 70 for gods sake. See http://populationmatters.org/documents/overshoot_country.pdf Too many people = house prices too high. Simple as that
  7. Not too old to start but dont leave it any later. If you are starting to pay tax at 40% now, I would imagine you will be paying more 40% tax in years to come. Look at it this way, get 40% tax relief now, tax free growth and only pay tax at basic rate in retirement. Personally I would not bother if you are a basic rate tax payer, probably ISA's are better, (if you can trust yourslef not to spend it) Find one that does, or better still start a business and skim off all the profits into pensions. I know some people that have beeing doing this for a few years and are projected to going over their lifetime allowances well before they are 55. From 2012 employers will have to contribute, starting at 1% andf rising to 3%. If you contribute yourself and have a decent employer who tops up with their savings on employers NI (13.8%) you will be surpised how much you can build up. Pensions are just a tax wrapper, as long as you have a SIPP you can control your own investments. In my opinion, you would not go far wrong buying good dividend paying funds right now, get the income ones that buy mre units out of the quaterly / monthly payments. Make sure the TER is low and try not to line an IFA's pocket. Good luck.
  8. My god, someone with some sense on HPC. Well said that man.
  9. Your first point is OK. Yes buildingis needed, just not on greenfield. But your second point, Ha ha LOL, if you cant expand probably your business is not viable, more than likely you are a one man band with perhaps a couple of low paid slaves, my company however has expanded by 15 employees this year alone. Rather than spending endless hours posting here I am doing something about my business, some of you should focus on using your hours more productively and maybe just maybe you might not be in the shit that you are in! If you want to leave, great good for you at least you will be doing something positive if you think you can make it elsewhere, however having done that grass is not always greener (and much less green if you have your way). In fact about 20 million of you are needed to leave to make this place pleasent again.
  10. A line has to be drawn in the sand. It is simply unsustainable to dig up and destroy more and more land. I am not against more housing, there is plenty of brownfield sites and lots of older housing stock that needs replacing. And none of this affordable nomsense, all new houses should have minimum room sizes double that of what the arsehole builders pass off as liveable units now. You lot are so ####ing blinkered and in capable of seeing alternatives
  11. Undoubtedly the view from my window. Building more crappy houses will not fix a broken country
  12. Looks like those that care about the countryside are going to have to contribute more to compensate for the concrete lovers amongst you!
  13. I understand your frustration with politicians and bankers etc but you are so wrong about turning fields into houses, the planet or even the British isles cannot support the biodiversity necessary for a high quality and sustainable quality of life for all
  14. He is just trying to secure the vote of the rioting chav. Pity none of them will bother voting
  15. Nonsense. If you expand by building more then you amplify the problem. Quality of life is what we should be striving for not more of the same.
  16. Probably wasting my breath but this rioting nonsense is just another symptom of the taboo subject of overpopulation
  17. People will have to be educated not to have them basically. People need to see the benefits of having more living space per person. Room to breath and develop. It should become unacceptable as a society to tolerate overly large families. Maximum of 1 child per person, any more than that and zero child related benefits. This is not about only allowing only people with money to breed as ultimately genes from chavs are just as valuable as those from the monied classes. Perhaps if the rich have more kids they should pay more in taxes as a contribution to the wider society. This kind of social engineering goes against the grain but I cant see any alternatives. As for the developing world education is again the answer, free contraception and huge investments in their infrastructures. If we (that is the richer nations) can fix the instability in for example the middle east and africa and allow those nations to flourish and will have smaller families. If you get situations where millions die from starvation\flooding\eathequakes then quite frankly the population density in that area is too high. I am a great believer that we should create a model of sustainability that if we had to we could support ourselves with comfort from the land locally on a world wide basis. This is not about going back to the land, far from it we should use engineering and science to make life much better for everyone, its just that I believe that the number for everyone should be around a couple of billion people and not 6 or nine.
  18. LOL No I am not suggesting others are killed, why do people always assume that when any body puts forward an argument for over population that htey believe the solution is genocide in the style of pol pot or hitler. No I love people, just not too many of them... I dont care about peoples race, religion, politics etc, just the numbers. Probably a solution would be to actively try and reduce people being born in the first place.
  19. I know people who have been doing this for years. Even better if you can pay yourself dividends. Set you salary to about 7.5K, take 30K in dividends and the reset to pension. Saves all 40% tax and employers NI 13% and employees extra NI 1%. I concluded that Pensions are really only worth it if you can take advanatge of salary sacrifice and are fortunate enough to be a 40% tax payer, otherwise forget it use ISA's and under the matress.
  20. No idea of the source for the Magacities program, but do I believe it yes. Common sense tells you so. I do not share your optimism over our abilty to for 'science' to and support increasing populations. But lets suppose you are right. Is it sensible to sacrifice biodivisity, and displace nature for more humans? I dont think so. We are spoiling the earth and living like rats in a cage. Economic chaos/imbalance, terrorism, food/oil/resource shortages and yes House price inflation are all symptoms of a control system too woundly tight, there is not enough slack in the system. ergo too many people. As a side issue, I would build up mega cities like London, lots of spacial cheap high quality homes in mega skyscrapers, make it nice and comfy and cram as many people who like to live like to live with lots of other people (like you I assume). The people who actually care about the planet can live in their nice hamlets and tend to thier small holdings etc. In fact I would start to buldoze many dilapidated houses in certain parts of the country and return the land to nature. (This is actually happening in Detroit) Long live Niybism ! Nimbys are good !
  21. I oppose building on all but existing plots. Its not more houses we need but less people. - A lot less. Not sure if this is the exact number but on Andrew Marrs Mega cities London alone needs the entire UK to grow food to support itself. Its really sad that many of you dont have your own homes but many of you are missing the bigger picture
  22. An independant thinker - well thats a start. Use your logic to evaluate all sides of the argument please. You are way too negative, the programming for humans to self improve is hardwired. Yes there are lots of demotivated cerebally lacking individuals but take my painter, would not pay him minimm wage myself but being self employed takes home a reackon about 800-1000 per week. Hardley any skill required, just a few brushes. Many many people could improve their lot if they got off their arses.
  23. So exaclty what are your political leanings? I dont think my 'get on your bike' type comment about unhappy employees forming their own enterprises (business) is divorced from actuality actually, I would say more of an accurate observation of the many people that do just that. Sadly there are too many people that think 'someone else' owes them a living.
  24. Exactly, there is no relationship other than a bunch of socialists think you ought to subsidise the 'shameless' generation
