  1. This. The cards and, more importantly, the database will not be for your benefit. Although it would be sold to you as such.
  2. I’m certainly not a bleeding-heart type and I’m also not against passports. Along with the passport I also have a driving license which adequately identifies me with my full name, d.o.b, country of birth and full address. Why would I need another form of ID? No doubt the answer to that involves a Tory donor.
  3. ID cards are just another tool for the government’s nudge effect. Even if they did come into play, I’m sure it would only be a matter of days before people either figured out how to forge them, or someone hacks into the database. I’m still amazed how easily people gave all of their personal info to FB.
  4. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/revealed-the-cash-for-fake-id-scandal-at-the-heart-of-the-government-478159.html?amp This also happened around the same time (2006) which may have put a dampener on it too.
  5. I seem to remember from the last time this was proposed it wasn’t so much the cards themselves that were the concern, it was more the potential functionality creep of the database they were linked to. No surprise that brass-neck Blair has slithered out from under his rock to show support for it.
  6. Straight in with the emotional language. It’s ‘young families’ that’ll be affected the most. Funny how it’s ‘property’ that goes up in price, but ‘homes’ that go down. Expect Rishi Sunak - Chancellor ™ to come up with a signature branded rescue package to save those young, hard-working families...
  7. https://youtu.be/Kma2sPrIYCg Take the joy and pleasure out of the workplace, with a career in Human Resources.
  8. Surely UBI will immediately be captured by HPI, no? Let’s say, for ease of maths, every adult received £1000 per month. Properties for 1 adult would increase by £12000 every year and properties for 2 adults would increase by £24000 every year.
  9. https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN25K0MY Another ‘Quick, buy now, before they’re all taken by Hong Kong residents!” article from Reuters.
  10. Totally agree with this. All of our eggs have been put into someone else’s basket.
  11. That’s always been my thought on UBI. Rents would increase to capture it all and house prices would increase by the given amount every year.
  12. Lol. Have John Lewis never heard of Ikea or eBay? Do they think they’re the only shop in existence? The examples they give are for an office chair for £399 and a sofa for £1,899. Totally overpriced as usual.
  13. I’m not going to go into detail, but someone I know is currently in prison for trying to be clever with tax. Along with the stretch inside, they’ve had everything they own taken to repay what they owe. If you take the pi55, HMRC will come after you.
  14. Bob, What a strange coincidence. I was about to contact you to let you know that I’m offering a handful of ‘Free’ 1-on-1 Property Strategy Sessions this month as commercial property is heading for an 80% crash and residential at least 35%. Let me know if you’re interested. love n hugs, Mikhail
  15. Right. If you’re going to do something, then just do it. Threatening people doesn’t work.
  16. This is currently trending at the top of Twitter. The vast majority of tweets understand it’s a total scam. There’s a few MSM articles about it now. Hopefully this latest extension is the last ?
  17. https://news.sky.com/story/amp/boris-johnson-has-been-spooked-as-england-enters-tricky-new-chapter-in-coronavirus-story-12039927 Judging by the tone of this article, I’d say it’s still on (Op).
  18. Do the owners of Evans Cycles and Halfords donate to the Tories by any chance?
  19. 50,000 dads desperate to keep avoiding their families at the weekend. “But it’s exercise darling.” Help to Avoid
  20. https://youtu.be/DnPmg0R1M04 Four part documentary on how the inventor of PR, Edward Bernays (part of the Freud family) showed American companies how to make people want things they didn’t need, by linking products to their unconscious desires. Definitely worth your time.
