Microflats the future of housing in cities
squeezed replied to coypondboy's topic in House prices and the economy
Well, it looks like the UK population is going to keep on growing https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationprojections/bulletins/nationalpopulationprojections/2020basedinterim and there won't be more space available to common folk (unless there is a radical land reform or a revolution happening) so brace for more and more extreme solutions, folks. This terraced 2 bed in Burnley might be a sound investment in the next decade, after all. -
I have asked my last employer for a small 15% raise. They said "no, we can't do that" so I have left. It was a good move as I make 4 times more now.

Russian invasion of Ukraine - impact on house prices?
squeezed replied to Sausages's topic in House prices and the economy
War in Ukraine will affect house prices in England of course. It will create even more refugees, fleeing from the conflict zones and from areas not yet being conflict zones. Some of those will end up in Britain, no doubt. This will create even more pressures on housing. -
Mass changes to UK immigration requirements

There are thousands of Costa and Starbucks coffee machines in places like WHS, making coffee without human being present, no price difference though. A double espresso is still 2.80 or thereabouts, just like in staffed outlets, the only difference being you ca enjoy your drink without having a brief conversation with a "highly trained and professional barista" who invariably pronounces espresso "expresso". -
Twenty-eight-year-old Hayley Tillotson is the first person in the UK believed to have been made bankrupt because of the cladding crisis. She bought her first home in Leeds two years ago but learnt that it was clad with flammable material. Overwhelmed with the extra costs of dealing with the problems, she had to hand back her keys. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/business-55847260

I see from your comments on this forum that you know the future. Can you tell me what should I do right now? What should I invest my money in? -
Absolutely everything is "Chain Free"

I didn't realize the proces of putting the property on the market is that fast in Hampshire. The house is listed before the deceased got cold. It doesn't look like that around my endZ. The most recently listed properties are from the end of last year. -

Well if you know one Pole on good money that means that you have very limited network of personal contacts, nothing else. Anecdotal evidence means here the same as it does anywhere else that is f all. Maybe you could meet more rich Poles living in Britain if you moved out of your council bedsit in Burnley you are currently occupying? -

Free to those who can afford it, very expensive to those who can't. -
Of course it hasn't affected anyone on this forum. Opinionated economical internet gurus from HPC forum; they know it all, share their priceless advice here daily but despite sounding solid it somehow is never right and IRL they live in squalor in council-paid homeshares in worst areas of Burnley and Blackpool, nourishing themselves with diet consisting of £1 frozen pizzas from Iceland and cheapest Lidl crisps, their marriages long ago broken and their kids no longer talking to them : )
