  1. What will happen to all the renters in areas? i wonder how long it will take to evict and will the government policy be to let renters stay longer than before where will the government put all those evicted families?
  2. We are waiting for self employment letters from government If you are self-employed or a freelancer and your income has been hit, you can apply for a grant worth 80% of your average monthly profit, again up to a maximum of £2,500 a month. The money will not be available until the start of June at the earliest, but it will be backdated to March. what will happen after the three months and the LL will start eviction proceedings how long will it take with the backlog once once the courts open again?
  3. So renters have been told they don’t have to pay rent for three months what I’ll happen at the end, will we have to back pay or just start again paying a lower amount?
  4. Here is a good link https://www.tenants.org.au/blog/renting-and-covid-19-information I have lost income, what can I do? You can attempt to negotiate with your landlord about paying a reduced or no rent for a short period. This may be in their interests because it may be much more difficult and expensive to replace you than give some reprieve. Some landlords will be more willing to do this, especially if their mortgage costs are not excessive.
  5. We are not going to be able to pay our rent for the next few months, at the end end we will try to negotiate a new lower rent and an arrangement to repay the last unpaid months
  6. Here isn’t my letter to my letting agent.......... Dear sir Due to the coronavirus crisis we are very sorry to inform you that we are not able to pay the rent this month. We have lost a large part of our income as my wife can’t work as she is now home looking after the children who have been told not to come to school. We have applied for universal credit as that was the advice we have been given and have been assured of governmental help for people like us. Due to very high demand we have been told our application may take longer than usual but as soon as we receive our payment we will pay our rent as soon as realistically possible. mr and mrs silverismoney
  7. The entire system is collapsing pelple are stopping paying rents and mortgages so the banks will fail wd are talking about an entire financial collapse
  8. Just to confirm then the official line is “will not be able to start proceedings to evict tenants for at least a 3 month period. ” “At the end of this period, landlords and tenants will be expected to work together to establish an affordable repayment plan, taking into account tenants’ individual circumstances.” So a good result for my situation would be to negotiate a lower rent after three months but slowly repay the three months in areas. but as said before who knows how bad things will be in three more months? if the banks have collapsed then we are facing a financial collapse then paying rent or eviction will be last thing on anybody’s minds
  9. So what will happen if we all stop paying our rents together on mass as a form of activism? the government has said they can’t start eviction process for at least three months and even then once started it can take several more months after that and who knows what situation the world will be in if the banks have crashed and there is a Huge financial collapse which will mean nobody will be evicted with so much else going on i hope we can all help and encourage one another as we all sit tight and don’t break and go and pay your rent WHO IS WITH US? Let me hear your ear cry '!!!!!
  10. My wife has lost here entire self employed income due to the crisis and now the kids are at home. we rent a three bed flat in London, never ever been a day late in over six years. We have just missed our first ever date the rent is due. I explained to the letting agency that we have lost half our income due to the crisis. i hear the government said they can’t even start eviction process for three months, and who knows what situation will be by then. would appreciate hearing from others on here who is in similar situation to us so we can encourage each other and talk about what will happen?
