Long time reader here I hope they did buy back in the end, because prices are NEVER EVER going back to 2007 levels and IR are NEVER EVER going to rise significantly in all our lifetimes. Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Syria Its only a matter of time now before Russia selects a third country for military advance - it could even be N.Korea that triggers it. The problem we are all facing - is the idea that another war won't happen, or it is so far away from us that we either don't care about it or are ignoring the real terrible effects such as in Syria right now. Tend to agree - but I believe the construct of the EU negotiating team for Brexit is fixed in such a way, that Brexit talks are doomed anyway. Before any negotiations started, all states had to agree to neuter themselves in this dogfight. They all had to abdicate any decision making role in negotiations - their only role was going to be a rubber stamping exercise. The probelm with this is that each dissenting state who is not "on-message" will be pressurised to give the "right" answer, and if they don't play ball, there will repeated attempts to co-opt , rather like the repeated referendums of the past until the "right" answer was given, or as in the case of France, dismantling the legal need for a referendum. The worst part of this for ALL of us - Is that EU negotiations are being handled by an appointed (unelected) quango headed by an appointed (unelected) leader. None of these people are accountable. The success or failure of negotiations doesn't affect them personally - They will drive through whatever ensures that they keep their golden pensions - and that will be forcing punitive measures against the UK and by proxy, the UK people how the UK responds to what will be effectively an enemy on its border is the really frightening thing - and the EU should realise before it is too late, that using its might falsely and by false proxy to demean a major former ally country will backfire badly in the long run. Militarily, the EU is in serious danger of being an easy target and it will get worse - the US will not step in next time, it will just bomb the cr*p out of the EU mainland if similar circumstances happen as per WW2 or as predicted cold war scenarios
