"I am totally fed up," he said. He has written to the British government asking it to intervene.
Hmmm. The most annoying thing about this is that not only do arseholes like him lose all their money, but then they become even bigger arseholes.

Nurses, firemen, tecahers, social workers.
Basically all the frontline public sector staff who have done more work for the same money whilst their executives stick their hands in the till.
And the ones that the VIs wanted to lock out of home ownership forever. Bastards.

Do your bit. Smoke!

Here, throw them this:

Gross mortgage lending is not exclusively house purchase loans. It includes remortgages too.
Remortgaging is not as prevalent of late as most lenders SVR are better than current deals.
These figures also lag recent events by a couple of months as they record when money actually left the bank.
Think of February approvals.
They don't like it up 'em. More good news

Green shites?

This is one year after making a record profit?
"No return to boom and bust", as if.

Just the CBI switching sides.
Load of twonks, they supported, nay brayed for the low rate policy that gave Gordon the wind to carry on his profligate ways. Now they complain. Pathetic.
+1
Every time I used to see Digby Jones on the news, he was begging for lower interest rates.

Congrats - DB you ignored the media hype and stayed out of the bubble. You won! Enjoy your new place

Merci.
“It’s still too early to spot a clear pattern of recovery in the housing market as some commentators have suggested.“Activity remains weak, and we have said we will see volatility in monthly lending figures as we bounce along at the bottom of the market. Our forecast for gross lending of £145 billion in 2009 remains unchanged.”
Recovereh.

On BBC News ticker. No story yet.
In the interests of fairness I think that this is news, given the ramping that's been taking place giving similar sized ticks upwards recently

Don't talk rot!
When you have kids and one of them runs into the kitchen carrying a dirty hypo needle that s/he's been playing with, and has to have an HIV test, maybe you'll realise that often - lowered house prices are strongly related to - much of the time - lowering quality of life/ safety for families.
So many people talk a load of bilge till they've had a family and seen things thru' a father's/mother's eyes.
Once again, my point was that the article was more concerned with house prices rather then anything like this.
-
Don't waste your time discussing something written by Britain's wrongest man.
-
What an idiot. YOu've seen what happens when house prices fall.
No thanks.
Strange. You've spent the last 6 months telling us that house prices aren't falling.
-
Estate agents and TV property gurus will be saying "there's never been a better time to buy" for the 22nd month in a row.
-
Unless he announces massive public spending cuts tomorrow, no.

If you have read my post above, you might consider how YOU might feel, if you bought a house and spent money on making in comfy and well-maintained, only to find that on wanting to sell, the local council had taken such action, that meant you lost a certain % of the potential selling price.
So many on here ar so eaten up with their own homeless misery they don't know what its like to have a home for YEARS - spend time and money on it, then find when you sell it you can't afford to move into a comaparable house, due to someone building something unsightly or anti-social nearby. Not to mention having to shell out top whack for the rates.
If you think that's selfish wait till it happens to you, then I can come along and make YOU out to be some sort of greedy grabbing twit.
And it will. Someone will build on or designate your area, and you won't be able to do a blessed thing, except suck it up.
My point was that the article blurted out "won't somebody please think of the house prices" straight away, rather than tackling the social issues first. It's the same with anything - don't build a factory nearby or you'll lower house prices. Don't build any roads nearby or you'll lower house prices. Don't build any more houses nearby or you'll lower house prices.
It's never about quality of life, it's always about some theoretical pot of cash, and that careless talk lowers house prices.

concerned that their own homes have decreased in value
In just 9 words, this sums up everything wrong with Britain today.

Positive news everywhere you look
Yes, just like in every month out of the last 18.

Brown said that having an election now with the economy as it is would bring chaos.

NFPMINO (95% mortgage in name only). The Telegraph article is another pathetic ramp.
Verdict: FAIL

meaning is slippery. "There is nothing outside of the text." Jacques Derrida
It appears to be happy hour at Pete & Bernie's Philosophical Steakhouse!

The Banks were operating more like running an austin allegro on fuel injection and drilled out body work with oversize pistons and larger valves and a turbo charger to get the most they could from the enhanced available fuels without realising that the high speed was unsustainable if they hit a bump in the road or had a too abrupt gear change of braked without correctly using the clutch because there was insufficient metal left in the car to protect itself from stronger than expected forces.
What, like this?

I had absolutely no idea that this programme existed until 10 minutes ago. I can only conclude that it's a desperate attempt by the BBC to make up some mileage after all that property porn they've pumped out over the years.
The continuity announcer mentioned "taking the housing market head on"! Yes, that's right, two people are going to turn round an entire multi-billion pound market all by themselves, and make it alright again! Plus, there's all your favourite crash euphemisms, e.g. "tricky market".
As a bonus, I see it's co-presented by the sister of everyone's favourite disgraced TV property expert.
****ing licence fee grabbing drivel.
Private Number Plates
in House prices and the economy
Posted
This is the main reason why I won't ever have a private plate. The other is that they are easy for psychopaths to remember, should your driving ever piss one off.
