Ftse 100 Below 5000 16 Sep 2008
themoralkiosk replied to 234SALE's topic in House prices and the economy
i cashed in half of my ftse all share tracker last year at about 6,300 and still have the money sloshing around - getting seriously tempted to jump back in now and certainly will if we hit 4,500... there are buying opportunities all over the place but its going to be a rocky ride! -

A couple of years ago someone posted a link to a video about the history of money which was pretty interesting. I'm wanting to watch it again in light of the past years events but can't find the link - can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks

Has Anyone Said To You "you Were Right After All"?
themoralkiosk replied to r thritis's topic in House prices and the economy
Yes my old housemate emailed me the other day to say I was right all along as I went on about it so much last year. She then asked when will it hit the bottom, I suggested 2011ish and she replied 'oh thats a shame as I was planning on buying later this year - still think ill go ahead with it' !?!?!?!?!!?!?!? I really had to restrain myself from replying to that - theres just no helping some people. -

I'm another guitar player Rickenbacker 340 Jetglow Rickenbacker 4003 Bass Gretsch 6121 Roundup Vox AC-15 If I sold all of those I could have a house deposit! www.myspace.com/themoralkioskuk -
Don't take everything Merryn says as gospel - I bought a Japanese tracker partly due to her harping on about it and i'm a fair bit down on that 18 months later... She still maintains it is a great opportunity though so fingers crossed!

That Is What Vi Won't Tell You
themoralkiosk replied to It is different this time's topic in House prices and the economy
i watched a load of this last night, reminded me of a lot of my a-level economics, worth watching anyway, i have just cashed in all the profits i have made on on my uk all-share tracker since i opened it in 2003 (not just on the basis of this video but on a fair bit of research over the past few weeks and instinct...) -
I tried to do this earlier online but couldnt so I think im just going to have to cash them in on Monday. Bit of a shame to lose the tax-free status but would be more of a shame if there's a stock market crash and i hadnt got round to cashing them in! Definitely a good time for some profit taking i think... Its reassuring to know that others are doing the same

i just came across this website this evening and there are a number of interesting articles - mostly bearish, so will probably appeal to most on this site! http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article1893.html is the link for the article on "UK Housing Market Crash of 2007 - 2008 and Steps to Protect Your Wealth"
-
the graph is very interesting, but weren't the markets far more overvalued then than they are now? still think i might sell a load off tomorrow because all this volatility isn't good for my health!

Anyone Else Considering Getting Out Of Shares?
themoralkiosk replied to themoralkiosk's topic in House prices and the economy
I'm not quite that bearish - think ill cash in all the profits for my uk all share tracker and move the original investment into a ftse 100 tracker... -

Yes I certainly would have but its easy to get greedy when the going's good! I'm late 20s, single, living/working in London so no family to worry about and can therefore be afford to be a little risky. Im not losing any sleep over it but probably thinking about it more than is healthy! I'm not planning on buying a house anytime soon but building up a decent deposit so Im in a good position when/if the crash comes... Will give it some thought over the weekend and make a decision one way or another on Monday (if the bank holiday hangover isnt too bad!) The Moral Kiosk
