  1. Liam was giving it (the "deflationary smokscreen") both barrels on Newsnight last night. Ken Clarke was occasionally in shot, and he was visibly shuddering with glee
  2. I'd call mine "House of Cards", to make life easier for the headline writers when it failed
  3. Go on, curiosity has the better of me. I'm guessing a 911 (996) for yersel' and an Merc ML for the little lady ?
  4. Sorry me again - just noticed this line. I think it illustrates well the nonsense of the "affordability" lobby. Being able to service the (current !) interest element of a jumbo-loan should NOT be the definition of affordability.
  5. I love this phrase from property porn TV - it makes increasing wealth sound as easy as letting go of a balloon
  6. All this white collar angst; "Falling Down" seems even more relevant than at it's release.
  7. I can vouch for something TV-related that made 2 houses I recently viewed unsellable: the dressing-gown clad, slack-jawed yocals attempting to sell these dumps at comedy prices didn't even have the gumption to turn the blasted TV's off while I was viewing ! Call me old fashioned, but... "Jeremy Kyle ruined my sale"; indeed he did.
  8. YESSSS, Danny Boyle HAS to make a repossession movie: 28 working days later ? BTL slum millionaire ?
  9. Mixed Social Housing/Mortagage Backed Securities There's a troubling symmetry at work here - stir the rubbish (sic) well enough into the pot, and hope to pass off the whole thing as high quality. Both have proved to be sleight-of-hand that essentially fool the punters.
  10. I think you should be directing that at Paul the "Executive" Homeowner PS. Would it be (slightly) less pompous to say "Executive Home" owner ? or, who cares
  11. "It feels like Bellway has stuck two fingers up at people who put million in its pockets." Bellway...and me
  12. Can't watch but am picturing a sub-Barrymore-mykindofpeople affair, only with money questions ?
  13. I'm sure it's "a Madoff of Financial advisors"
  14. Appears to be a badge recently slapped on a few over-priced old faithfulls on my watch-list. aka flogging a dead horse
  15. Obviously big news for Rebecca too - she clearly expected Joe taxpayer tp pick up her £360k mortgage whilst she popped down the job centre in her SLK.
  16. "Something like that would not be helpful in getting the property market back on track" Aaron Strutt, Chase de Vere mortgages Aaron, I think the word is chutzpah, and you have it by the lorry-load
  17. "use your savings as a deposit for a one-bed btl flat" erm...that'll be a 40% deposit then, and who is going to lend you the other 60% ??? Otherwise brilliant
  18. Ha ha, living off immoral earnings...and that's just Foxtons, boom boom
  19. Easy; just count the number of "compact exectives" parked on the driveways
  20. Fair play to him, he stuck to his guns in the negotiation under the most torrid onslaught from Amanda and the missus.
  21. Listen closely - are there faint Scottish accents coming from within ?
