  1. Untrue or misleading. The research you're probably referring to has been looked at and is not accepted by the large majority of experts in the field. Cranks will just spin this as a cover-up, so they have a win-win narrative. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/no-covid-mrna-vaccines-wont-damage-your-dna1/
  2. The game is rigged. I'd rather play on the rigged side and get on with life than whinge from the sidelines.
  3. 🤞 Hopefully. I am liking what inflation is doing to wages and eroding the real value of my debt.
  4. 🤣 So why did the brexiter politicians keep voting down deals that would have taken us out of the EU?
  5. Because you're paid to bother. No-one has as much free time as you seem to have.
  6. When I was young, early 20s, London was full of Australians and New Zealanders coming here to earn GBP. They did farming work, bar work, stock takes, shelf stacking, whatever. Obviously also professional roles. In those days the UK had a very strong lure because of how strong our currency was. There was also a time when housing in the UK was considered ludicrous compared to everywhere else. You'd heard Australians talking about how silly it was. That situation has changed completely. Take a look at all the major cities in Australia. Property is now as expensive or more expensive than London. I don't mean prime (that's a different beast in each case), but for the average person in suburban sprawl. I actually spent a bit of time on the Gold Coast in Queensland, near Brisbane, way back when I went on my globe trotting skint years. Except for Surfers Paradise, it was pretty cheap and mostly seemed to be laid back trades people and surfers. If I remember correctly, I stayed in Palm Beach, and it really did feel quite laid back and affordable. Look at it now: https://www.realestate.com.au/property-townhouse-qld-palm+beach-143357864?sourcePage=rea%3Abuy%3Asrp-map&sourceElement=listing-tile The point being, the UK is not the place it once was. It doesn't have the same attraction and people have realised that unless you're working in a top end job, it is really just a safe, reasonably functional country with sh1t weather.
  7. You seem to be blinded by your feelings. I have already commented early on in this thread that of course immigration increases demand for houses and therefore "pushes up prices" (with caveats). You and others are the ones really desperate to create this narrative that "the left" (whoever you think that is) don't believe immigration pushes up prices.
  8. We would have built a tiny fraction of the number of houses, so house prices wouldn't be that much different. You can tell this because house prices are falling now even though we continue to have high immigration. How could that ever be possible? I say it again and again, what matters is rent prices. Always look at rent prices if you want the clearest picture of pure population driving supply and demand.
  9. Party time for me would be build prices going down so we can actually afford to do the work to our house that we'd planned on when we bought it. Either that, or a larger house becoming available for cheaper. Party time won't be if prices start to rocket again. Well, except, if they rocket a lot then we can sell up and retire in Portugal. That might be party time.
  10. Here are the exact words used that I responded to. I bolded a bit to be helpful.
  11. The brexiters in parliament voted several times against deals that would have taken us out of the EU. You are aware of that, I'm positive, so I don't think I'm the one playing games.
  12. Don't forget the wine makers. And remember, we could not have achieved all this without Brexit. Praise be.
  13. Cool. So, we achieved the exact same thing we would have done while inside the EU. And you're selling it as a benefit.
  14. I try very hard to avoid insults. In this case I'm afraid, it is deserved. Just try harder not to fall back on idiotic simplicities and you'll be fine.
  15. Oh dear, the insults. Won't somebody pity poor simon99. Here's an idea, try not being an idiot.
  16. How many lives have been ruined by listening to the opinions here and not buying 20 years, or even 10 years ago?
  17. Who are you going to vote for? I haven't decided if I will even vote, but if I do it certainly won't be for one of the status quo parties (Labour or Conservative).
  18. Pure English exceptionalism. You hear that Ireland, all those immigrants are just using you to get to the land of hope and glory. 🤣
