  1. 100% not true in terms of getting a Bounce Back Loan. You're conflating two totally different things - Rateable Value Relief and Bounce Back Loans. They are completely separate, and BBL are available to any businesses that weren't already in trouble on 31 December 2019, and continue to trade but are impacted by C19. However, to the original point... the small print says BBL funds can't be used to buy property, and the new "draconian" powers Sunak is bringing in will have any misspent funds returned quicker than you can say "illiquid asset..." B2
  2. Obviously I wouldn't wish either of them any harm personally (although I and millions others have been sorely provoked by Sunak's smug negligence) But.... While they're self-isolating, maybe we can have a couple of people stand in who actually understand business, who can find a way to protect the 10m+ jobs that are going to disappear when currently-unsupported small Limited Companies go bust in Q3. Now that would be a real silver lining, for millions of people currently #Excluded from help. B2
  3. That is correct - Lenders don't take personal guarantees under £100K loan size. HMRC, on the other hand, will rip you a new backside and do something nasty to the resulting orifice, if you act outside your responsibilities as a Director. I do feel it's important some of the misinformation on this thread is put right - otherwise you'll all (and quite rightly) get high blood pressure thinking small company directors are milking it. Trust me, we're not. There are about 5.5million small Limited Companies in the UK, employing upwards of 11 million staff (mostly currently on furlough*) BUT we are just about the only sector of the UK economy that is getting ZERO support (except for loading up on debt through the BarfBag Loan scheme, with no view of where the revenues are coming from to pay it back) whilst Ministers talk a lot of bilge about "backbone of the economy" and "leading the recovery..." *The poor souls on furlough don't know it yet, but if they are employed by a small, unsupported Ltd Co, their job almost certainly already doesn't exist, and they are not coming back in October
  4. I've made some corrections to some of the common misconceptions above, about what Limited Liability really means. You're not alone though - so many people have no clue how it works - even Therese Coffey (Work and Pensions Minister, for heaven's sake!!) managed to make a 100% inaccurate statement of how Small Limited Company Directors pay tax on dividends (deliberately ignoring the fact that 19% Corporation Tax has already been paid on the profit, before another 7% dividend tax goes on top.) If it makes you feel any better about the "scam," anyone doing what you suggest above will find themselves in very hot water, personally liable to HMRC for the missing money, and likely enjoying more porage than the Three Bears for several months.... B2
  5. Ye Gods!!! I was born in a maternity home in Ulverston, when my parents lived in Barrow-in-Furness. That is insane. Don't be fooled; that is NOT the "Lake District" "proper." I am very fond of Barrow because it's where my family comes from; my Grandad was a plater in Vickers Shipyard (now BAE I believe) and at least in the older generations you couldn't meet nicer people. BUT, it's always been just the shipyard, a bogroll factory, and endless multi-generation benefits families, at the end of the longest cul-de-sac in the country (the A590) Lowick is just up the road, but there's fk all else there either. Half a mill, for a rundown old place with solid fuel heating in the middle of nowhere. You seriously just can't make stuff like that up!!
  6. I'm a frequent visitor to PPrune*, and haven't seen that anywhere. Doesn't come up in any searches either ? There's a discussion over there about not being able to get Travel Insurance that covers losses due to Covid-19 (the Qantas thread) but I can't find anything that says that you can't get insurance if you've HAD C19. Extensive Google searching also brings up nothing along those lines, and I have tried to search your previous posts to find your original reference, but there are quite a lot of them! I'm sure you're right, of course, but please could you repost the link to clarify? *For those not familiar with PPrune, it's the Professional Pilot's Rumour Network, which might be a red flag anyway!! Thanks in advance. B2
  7. LOL and QED respectively. You really are a card!! Projecting, my ar$e. What I am actually doing is pointing out that you have chosen a data source that appears to support your narrative, but that due to your complete and obvious lack of any real expertise in the specific field of study, you appear incapable of discerning that as a data source it is utterly meaningless. And your final point is also nonsense - all it does is confirm my belief that the "Remain narrative" is all about clutching at straws, chatting uncorroborated sh!!te, and throwing increasingly manic insults at anyone who doesn't agree with you (your ami M. Droopysnatch refers...) It's a pity this thread has resurrected itself, Zombie-like, from the joyous peace of the last few days. It had started to trend downwards, when it was reduced to three or four lone wolves howling at the moon in their little echo-chamber. Sadly it seems to be rearing its meaningless head again, and I for one will not be keeping at the top of the forum unless (as above) I see absolute nonsense being spouted. Bon nuit ?
  8. Sorry to rain on your parade, but all this shows is that you have found some random website that appears - at some intellectually masturbatory, but actually very superficial, level - to support your thesis. Ergo you're happy, and I can understand that. However, any dataset that suggests Germany "leads" the UK - in any way, shape, or form - in the field of Health and Safety, is just laughable. It's a well-know fact in the (my) HSE profession that Germany is one place you DON'T want to work, on the simple basis that any company that has enough safety officers on the payroll, and can tick enough boxes to say people sat in a room and were "trained," is immune from any of the sanctions of poor safety performance that would kill them stone dead anywhere else. Google "Berufsgenossenschaft" if you want to understand why German Health and Safety is the pits. But if you can't be bothered seeking out facts that contradict your world view, I'll just leave it right here that it is virtually unheard of for a manager in German industry to ever be charged with - let alone convicted - of corporate manslaughter. Because they are all covered, insured and utterly unaccountable under the Berufsgenossenschaft system - it certainly isn't because nobody in Germany gets hurt at work. Yet you claim they are ahead of the UK?! Similarly, ask anyone who works for Eurotunnel which side of the channel is safer - and then tell them there's a website that says "France is ahead of the UK in Health and Safety." You'll be taking a swim quicker than you can say "La Manche..." Finally, and for me this is the clincher... If you want to have a deeper look at how lacking in any real-life credibility that dataset is - you'll see that QATAR has a "safety outcomes" rating just one point away from the UK (Qatar=88, UK=89) Of course - QATAR!!! the country that <cough> delivered the World Cup without a single fatality <cough> Ask anyone who knows the first thing about safety, and they would just PTSL at that sort of data - it presents with ZERO credibility on any level. I know you and your acolytes are dead keen to find data that supports your argument, as we all are. But if you're going to do that at least try to find some data with some credibility (especially before you start bleating again about £350m and some flipping bus!!!) B2
  9. Not gonna lie - this thread is actually vaguely tolerable, now that I've put MCC and Slawek on "ignore." At least the rest of the posts - even if I don't necessarily agree with the posters - aren't full of foul-mouthed abuse, insults, and incitement. Now, all I need to do is to work out how to ignore it when other people quote their bile. That way, I might even come back more often and contribute directly, as this is such an important national (and international) issue. But I'm not prepared to do that if every other post is a vicious, swearing rant. Maybe things really did come to a head and get better yesterday!!
  10. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/10/02/doctors-have-announced-first-case-brexit-triggered-psychosis/ Watch this space.... Sadly, there'll be a few more along soon from a few on this thread who are unable (or simply unwilling) to distinguish between their Locus of Concern, and their Locus of Control. Either way, best of luck to all going forward.
  11. ^ What he said. Eloquently put Greg - hope you have a great and productive day. "Out" from me - I've got a tax bill to pay ?
  12. ROFLMAO... Says the dude who's spent months tapping out well over 2,000 increasingly angst-ridden Brexit-denial posts, on an anonymous forum to people who have no idea who s/he is, and who care even less. That's getting it done mate - keep at it!!! Anyway, I've got a job to do, looking after my family and making the best of WHAT IS HAPPENING, not moaning that it's NOT WHAT I WANTED like an oversized baby...
  13. The next time you contribute something looks even vaguely like "scrutiny" - or any sort of substantive contribution to the debate on this thread - will be the first. In the meantime, you seem hellbent on doing nothing but posting increasingly strident insults, aimed at anyone who doesn't agree with, whilst at the same time bemoaning the fact that some folks might get a bit pissed off with being insulted and tell you where to get off. At which point we end up with the "Stop Brexit" bloke getting tripped up by people who are fed up with being called "Brexshitier knuckle dragging gammons..." and you spouting "ooh, ooh, see I told you so..." sloblock. In short, you're just a more snowflakey version of Heseltine, hiding behind a keyboard and deliberately provoking people in a particularly aggressive manner. I can't see why you haven't been banned by the Mods for such blatant trolling, unless it suits their clickbait agenda. Of all the people on this thread, IMHO you're the one with the biggest gob and least to contribute. In fact I'd go as far as to say you're a right d(ickhead, and you are now on "ignore." There. You finally trolled a reaction from me. Cue the inevitable "knuckle-dragging gammon racist thicky" ******** from you - despite the fact that normally I'm not remotely any of those.
  14. Totally agree. Hardly bother to sign on here any more - it no longer has anything to do with House Prices, or even anything useful to do with the Economy. It's now just a total clickbaitfest, of the type the Mail would be proud of. An endless, non-intellectual [email protected] where b3ll3nds like Slawek and "Brew Spanner" revel in the prospect of the entire country going to ratsh!t, and millions being impacted by well-documented economic headwinds that have absolutely feck-all to to with Brexit, just so that in their sad little "ooh, let's spend all Saturday rubbing ourselves off with Monsieur ClusterF**k" worlds they can feel they were right after all. What a sad and obnoxious bunch of Troll scrotums!! Can't help thinking said "Brew Spanner" would be better off with his "I'm-alright-jack" Boomer mates over on www.property118.com - his "pull up the drawbridge, now i've made it" mindset seems much better suited over there. In thh meantime, I used to check in here several times a day to find out what was going on. Nowadays, I probably pop over a couple of times a week to check there's nothing I'm missing, then f**k right off again to somewhere waaay more interesting. See ya later, Fubra. You f**ked this place over good and proper in the interests of some short time clickbait profits!!!!
  15. Genuinely sorry to hear about your friend's sad loss of his (I think) Dad. Rubbish time in anyone's life. Would you be OK sharing a link? It's our back yard - so I'm very interested to see what sort of home that you describe is commanding that sort of valuation? And would luuuuurve to know which thicking fecking estate agent you're talking about as well.... At the moment "gormless / thick EA" doesn't really narrow it down that much! If you don't want to share the link as it's a friend, please feel free just to "out" GilesPurpleCords as that would be almost as much fun. Even moreso if it's "Stewart PurpleLogo"!!! Thanks. B2
  16. I've been watching and reading this ghastly thread for many months now. I rather hoped it would die a death after the election, but as Vic and Bob would say there are some people who just "can't let it lie...." There was loads of discussion in my area (Surrey / Hants border) about this over the holidays at various parties and gatherings. Some folks have just decided to move on; a few Lib Dems have decided to turn into Hiroo Onoda for the next 30 years; some are still determined everyone else didn't know what they were voting for - three times now - and bleat on endlessly to anyone who will listen. A bit like here, but at least we got a drink in real life!! I had a simple observation for them, and I have the same for this thread. Although I know you've all got your fingers in your ears going "Blah Blah" so I don't know why I'm bothering. (Actually I do - it's my "closure" on this thread, so I never come back again. MODS - is it possible to "ignore" a whole thread please?) Anyway, that observation is that it's now happening, and it's all outside both our direct sphere of control, and the place where we can influence it. As with all things, in all areas of life, we are therefore left with the simple choice - we either adapt and survive, or we don't adapt and we (and our families) suffer. I'm honestly amazed at the number of posters on here who have ripped the p**s out of BTL landlords, ever since S24 was brought out, for not realising the game was up / bleating "s'not fair" / emigrating to Malta / writing ranty letters to anyone who will listen. Those daft buggers over on P118 have even been encouraging their peers they'd never vote Tory again because of S.24 ("Tactical Voting / Ranty Banner" anyone?!) But now they are doing exactly the same thing over Brexit, because it didn't go the way they wanted. I understand the need to be disappointed and to vent. But as a small businessman, husband and father I don't have any real choice now but to adapt and get on with putting bread on my family's table, and a roof over our head. Whilst helping the community in whatever way I can, to make things better. What I absolutely know is that wasting hours on this thread, reading circular arguments from a bunch of people with very small ears who are not going to be persuaded either way, it totally pointless and a waste of my precious time on earth. So that's me. Enjoy the debate amigos. I am going to get on and do something properly useful with my life. B2
  17. Annoying Estate Agent tactics....? Breathing. Existing. Lying. End of. Happy New Year. B2
  18. Sorry - I just tried to look back through all the podcasts on the LBC website, on the days I was driving to the location I was visiting on that day, and can't find it. Shame really, because he made an even bigger "Jeremy Hunt" of himself than usual, on that occasion... Mind you, they weren't going to put THAT out there for posterity - the only things you'll find on that pr***s page are "O'Brien owns Granny from Thurrock" and "Brexit caller comes on - O'Brien's perfect response..." and guff like that. But I was fascinated, whilst on the LBC website, to see a) the amount of real bile towards him on his own comments page, and (sadly) b) the extent to which he seems to be (and is boasting about) getting rich from being a total w***er and on-air troll... P.S. Love your edit Maffo. I had to go and Google "Baizuo" and now have a new word in my vocabulary, and a very apt one at that for O'Dicksplash.
  19. Well it's certainly muddled / panicky sort of thinking. If you were a motivated seller, you'd hope that - just maybe - a balanced and half-professional EA would provide better advice of the "how not to look like you're so deep in the s*** that you might almost give it away" variety... BUT - a whole load of EA vermin are up to their necks in BTL. They thought "pwoperdee" was a one-way bet, and were too hubristic (or just plain ignorant) to recognise they needed to run any sort of balanced, risk-mitigating portfolio like a normal person... Real-life example? Farnham's most obnoxious EA (and boy, is THAT a field with some heavy competition!!) held on to his family home while doing another "development"; expanded his nasty little sales and letting (Oops!) business into three or four other local locations - with a commercial mortgage on each of the new satellite offices; and according to school-gate legend is also up to his eyeballs in other BTL investments (and there's usually some validity to school-gate legend - even if it's only because someone's Missus has been gobbing off about how superior they are to everyone else...) Well done mate.... a nicely diversified portfolio there - I mean you've got residential property (OO and BTL)....commercial property....and several EA offices dependent on the, err, property market making you a living. Genius, I tells ye!! Would it not be knicker-wettingly amusing if, in this case in this thread, the apparently muddled thinking was because the scummy LL, and the scummy EA, were in fact one and the same person?! I honestly think my Schadenfreudometer would explode, if it turned out that was the case. I wonder if there's any easy way to find out, without blowing three quid on a Land Registry search?
  20. ROFLMAO... 3-4 weeks back, a caller came on and had the temerity to suggest he thought Brexit would be good, and was already benefitting him and his wife on the following basis... He was in the building trade (IIRC - or something closely related) and his wages had actually gone up noticeably, as a lot of EE's in his local area had gone home since the referendum... O'HalfBrain is in there like a rat up a drainpipe to ridicule him, citing some report that said it wasn't happening. "Err, it's actually happening here...." saith the caller, and gave numbers. Again, "NO NO NO NO NO...." from O'HalfBrain... "it's JUST NOT...." (starts talking over the guy as usual...) "S***..." you can hear him thinking... "I'm in trouble here...one of my darned "Researchers" has let through a Brexiteer who doesn't sound like gravel-voiced-Granny-Ethel-from-Dartford, or some other token "Brexit Thicky" that I can openly patronise..." Then the caller starts talking about his wife's sitiuation. She's a pharmacist, and has found exactly the same thing - lots of job competition in her field seems to have left the UK as well, and therefore her wages have gone up... "NOOO NOOO NOOO..." O'HalfBrain wails. AKA "That doesn't fit my simplistic Sixth Form debating society narrative, so it must be wrong..." Followed by (out loud now) "Obviously you're a typical Brexit racist, and so is your wife...." and the usual talking-over-someone-who-disagrees-with-me BS. "Err, actually she's Indian mate - not sure where you get the idea of racism from..." saith the caller. This is all going in the wrong direction for the intellectually lazy ex-Minor Public Schoolboy Leftie, so obviously the guy is silenced, O'HalfBrain prattles on a bit more about how he's right, and presumably the guy was part of the plot to murder Jo Cox or some boll***s, and then we go to the news.. Anyway, back after the news and the adverts, and O'HalfBrain has clearly got someone to do some Googling. What are we treated to, as his laser-like "dissection" of the previous caller's "obvious lies?" "See, I knew he was lying, and here's why. I've just source TWO reports (ooh, clever you - you got TWO Researchers on it, did you?") and here they are, proving that things aren't as good in the Pharma sector as he said... The first was someone from the head of some Pharmaceutical industry body, (therefore nothing to do with "being a Pharmacist!!") who had trotted out something about some of their members moving manufacturing abroad after Brexit. A decent soundbite I guess - although GSK (one of the biggest Big Pharma companies in the world) have announced they've already re-registered their entire product range to be compliant and exportable post-Brexit, so it's no big deal. But worse for O'HalfBrain, it was completely irrelevant to the argument in play, however he seemed to completely miss that in his smug rush "to be right" as he always has to be. The second was even more laughable... A report from a big operator of pharmacies (I forget which) saying they were having to reduce staffing in some of their branches, and close a few, "because there was such massive competition for staff, and they were struggling to recruit..." OK, so at least he got the correct sector, but apparently O'DerrBrain (despite having studied Economics and Politics at the LSE!!) didn't seem to understand the bit where they did Supply and Demand If there are more jobs chasing fewer people, guess what happens to wages dude?! Maybe you're caller might have been right - but obviously that couldn't be allowed to happen, could it?! But no....all of this "evidence" was trotted smugly and condescendingly out to prove he was right, and the caller was of course a thick, lied-to, didn't know what they were voting for Brexit Racist. "Methodical Dissection" my ar$e!!! The guy is so full of hubris that he's incapable of listening to anyone else who disagrees with him... and so intellectually feeble and slow-witted that he's incapable of debating an issue properly with an opponent. Any faintly articulate caller who doesn't come on and start with "Ooooh James, I love your show...I agree with everything you say....ooh and your book is the best thing since the Bible" gets ridiculed, talked-over and then ultimately faded out. And his Researchers usually seem to do a great job, ensuring that the only pro-Brexit callers who get through are either moronic Northern UKIP activists, or Cockney Grannies who come on and say stuff like "it woz better in the old days, you know before all them immigrants" so that O'Thickster has someone marginally below his own IQ level to bully. I'm honesty astonished that Global keep him on the books. I can only imagine that his listener figures are dwindling by the month - the handful of echo-chamber acolytes, who want to rub themselves off while talking to him like it's some sort of 0898 line, can't be a bottomless pit - surely soon the owners will realise he's not bringing in the advertising revenue any more and fire him. Can't wait for that day, when he's finally off air. KK. Rant over!! But I just can't stand people who claim to be right all the time, when they're clearly as thick as mince despite a really expensive (Ampleforth and the LSE) education.
  21. LOL. You've clearly not listened to James O'Brien recently, and have not yet been properly educated to know what the "REAL FACTS" are.... Didn't you know - every single one of the 17,000,000 who voted Leave is a de facto "racist..." was "lied to...by nasty liars, don't you know" and "too thick to know what they were voting for..." Anyone who thinks anything differently will just get talked over, patronised, condescended-to and generally sneered at. If that all fails, just start with the ad-homs... Sadly the echo-chambers that are O'Brien's drivel "show" on LBC, most of the output of the BBC ("Luther" excepted!) and 50+% of this ghastly thread, are peddling their propaganda at such full-throttle that I think some of them are starting to genuinely believe what they trot out!! B2
  22. Please can someone indicate at which point in the podcast this part starts? I regularly turn on O'Brien in the morning when I'm in the car, because I think it's important to know what people who I REALLY disagree with me are thinking. I'm open to being wrong, and to learning... But he is such a sneering, condescending, intellectually dishonest and sometimes downright plain thick-as-pig-sh!t "presenter," that I often find myself turning right back off again in less than ten minutes - before I scream myself hoarse, at the constant parading of his banal and poorly-informed opinions as "fact." With that in mind, I'd love to hear the right part of the podcast, but I'm not willing to pollute my ears with his utter bellendery to trawl through and find it!!! Thanks. B2
