  1. Educashion Education Education --the money that is wasted there is astronomic ,I should know I'm a supply teacher and the amount of waste is shocking ,but its all on stuff for the students ----as someone says :Laptops ,Whiteboards (interactive) and Ive been in class and seen it all smashed up by out of control kids --but hey ,the ideology is that they must not be blamed or shamed, even when they chuck wheelie bins thru plate glass windows, and each other ---the sacrosanct salaries of the middle school managers are sacred cows and those middle managers will do anything to protect their empires:cooking the books ,fudging the figures and quickly getting rid of any supply teachers who see through it all!!
  2. "Meats and cheeses " are a highly underrated investment opportunity!
  3. Yesterdays evening standard folks -I cant do the fancy internet work to bring you the link --plaese look it up its on page 27 --yesterdays one --its great!!! ---Anthony Hilton City Comment --should cheer up the glum ones on here --it says interest rates may have to go up much more than anyone dreams and the ramifications for the economy are gonna be mega !
  4. Assuming that if not this month, but soon, interest rates finally defy the heavy gravity of vested interests and forces that us mere pawns cannot influence and do finally go up--I would like to check out buying opportunities at auction--can anyone help with any kind of register of auction houses that sell property-?-I simply cannot ,will not stomach dealing with agents they exhaust me with their manner and attitude---thanks
  5. its the day before my birthday --so yes definitely
  6. Hurray there is hope for us here in Bournemouth!!!----reality is setting in??--those agents though who are beginning to be brave enough to be realistic,I have heard get bullied by the rest ......
  7. I,m an STR currently renting in Alum Chine -Ive given up going to the Westbourne Agents for info on properties for sale --they are so majorly up them selves--is Mitchells the new Foxtons or is it Mays ?all over Alum Chine are sold boards ---but they all appear /disappear /reappear with stc in weenie letters randomly ---our minds are being played with!!
  8. Yes I am a STR and for the forseeable future now. Both myself and my son would like to be in the market at a sensible price which is why we are both keen followers of this site!---some of the threads are amusing-some clearly aimed at sabotaging what is a the real truth of the state of the economy and some are spot on ---as for Estate Agents ------round here they all drive glittering B.M.W's !!!! skullduggery---and sharp practice?????.......................!!!!!!!
  9. I sold last November in Poole, having been on the market for two years, finally I reduced by £10k in order to sell --and sure enough the interest rate drop last Aug produced the result I had been waiting for(in the interim I had had 5/6 sales fall through and no end of being messed around by local agents). My son who has been a member on here for two years--"converted " me and I now see the wisdom of staying in rented for the foreseeable mid/long term---capital invested in property wll not "deliver" either growth or "profit"--so my entire "erstwhile " house is invested in the bank and the interest pays my rent. I follow this site closely and as a 50 year old woman am acting courageously going into rented and having the guts to wait it out-I am a bear--and I believe this housing market will drop ---significantly --I only have 250k to"re -buy "with and I'm not gonna blow it through wrong timing. Nevertheless I'm registered with the local agents and here is a funny true story:Two days ago agent calls with the usual upbeat, cheery tone:"Taken on three new properties in Southbourne"---all apparently nearly 400k for 3 beds,no character and vastly overpriced suburban homes.I replied that "I'm still in no hurry to buy,as the market is set to drop"--shock ---horror was the response --I mentioned this site and told him to look at the views opinions and data---he responded with disbelief that a site like this existed and became argumentative and belligerent ---I said to him"look lets settle this easily --I bet you £500 that this time next year house prices will be much lower "--angrily he agreed "you got a bet" --he then backtracked and said they might go down in the rest of the counrty but not here in Poole /Bournemouth---he then tried (having agreed to the bet ) to then re professionalse the conversation and hastily thanked me for my time and rang off---so make your local agent squirm ----make a wager with them !!!! Sue
  10. The whole situation in Bournemouth and Poole is very worrying, its gone mad? or has it --look at all the apparently 'sold' signs and they all say in small letters underneath 'sold subject to contract'-and aggressive agents like 'Mitcells' put sold boards on roundabouts and vacant pieces of land that are simply advertising-at xmas they put merry christmas boards everywhere!what is really happening here?Sue
  11. Hi--to one and all,I sold my home in Branksome last Nov,it had been on the market for 2 years!! I had to drop by £10k to sell in the end-but I think I was very lucky to have sold....Now in rented ...waiting to see what happens to the local market...but all agents I go and see are extremely bullish...what news have you my fellow 'HPC' ers ?
