Nhs In England At Tipping Point
spunko2010 replied to rollover's topic in House prices and the economy
Is there a non bbc source for this? They won't blame rampant immigration which is of course the crux of it. I can't be bothered to face such a ludicrous disconnect as this on a Sunday morning. -
Why Cant The Banks Offer Bigger Mortgages?
spunko2010 replied to lombardo's topic in All about buying, selling and mortgages
If the BoE were to increase this rate would there be any public notice or consultation? It wouldn't surprise me. The op made a good point I'd say. -
Janch if the survey uncovered nasty things then your next buyer might do the same

Theresa May’S Grammar School Revolution

Theresa May’S Grammar School Revolution
spunko2010 replied to rollover's topic in House prices and the economy
I went to a grammar school and if I wanted kids I'd try to send them to one. Hard to compare how I'd have turned out if I went to the local comp in hindsight - I can read and write and use grammar correctly though which puts me in a minority at my age. Or so it feels. I don't think the less able benefit by holding back the more able either. If public schools didn't exist then I'd agree that grammar schools were unfair but we already have such a slanted education system it makes no odds. -
Zoopla Revealed A Surge In Property Listings

AdamLancs, I kind of agree. I think the top end will keep falling slowly. If Brexit does mean Brexit, as May is fond of saying, and we actually do leave on the kind of terms most people want, I can see that being a risk factor in London and the SE in particular. It has got to the point where any and all risks might be the straw the breaks the camel's back, because so many people expect it to happen now. -
Are The Shires Crashing ?
spunko2010 replied to TheCountOfNowhere's topic in House prices and the economy
Interesting. Looks like whoever owned it has had to give up. Interesting that the receivers priced it way lower than the agent. -

Also, does anyone know WTF this is. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-61794650.html Art Deco is one thing, but that's an eyesore. The last photo says 'receivers' I wonder what the backstory is. Edit: Okay, I win the prize of finding the biggest drop this week. http://www.wowhaus.co.uk/2013/10/28/on-the-market-1930s-grade-ii-listed-the-lime-works-six-bedroom-house-in-norton-kent/ From £3.75m to £0.75m in 3 years. -
House Viewing/bid Refusal
spunko2010 replied to JoeDavola's topic in All about buying, selling and mortgages
Just reminded me. I bid on a probate in 2013, the agent told me at the time they want the asking price even though it's not OIEO in the listing. I just checked, the buyer actually paid that. Could have sworn the agent was trying it on. -

Just checked Rightmove today, first page is full of relists that were previously Under Offer / SSTC: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-43486596.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-40135575.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-61777844.html etc -
House Viewing/bid Refusal
spunko2010 replied to JoeDavola's topic in All about buying, selling and mortgages
The condition of the house has little to do with the probability of it falling through though. -

It's people trying to cash in before the big one I'd say. -

Seeing lots of relisting going on here too. Things that went under offer in summer. -
House Viewing/bid Refusal

Just wait for it to fall through in a few weeks time. Everything round my way has come back on in the past week or so. -

Yes but when I rang 999 to report it they told me that wasting police time is a criminal offence -

Are you sure there aren't more stealth relists? I'm seeing loads of relists, seems to be the thing now, if you can't sell it stick it on with another agent, just whatever you do DON'T reduce the price. -

White Collar Jobs In The Firing Line
spunko2010 replied to reddog's topic in House prices and the economy
Pretty sure M&S will fold at some point in the next year. They haven't been paying suppliers I've heard a few times. Although they'll probably keep their food business. -
Margate has been "up and coming" for years. It hasn't got there yet clearly. I'd avoid there are many nicer places in kent.
