Definitely not 6 years, not 1 year, 6 months at the absolute most, at a stretch. It's going to be squeaky clean before the NZ election, C19 is in bed for now. It depends who wins the election. If Jacinda wins I think it will take a bit longer to return (March 2021 at the latest) as there needs to be some space of time to prove she was right and not short live the narrative to voters after a mere 2 weeks for example. If she loses then it could be as early as mid November. In the case of a coalition government I think it would be a bit longer also but not later than March 2021. To clarify by COVID19 returning I am using the definition of the mainstream media saying so. The same justification that has been used to lockdown. The only scenario in which I can see C19 not returning to NZ would be if it is used as a "told you so, we should have been more like China" style argument for other countries that want to move towards mass digital mass surveillance on the back of bio security.
