  1. Not sure why people get their nickers in to so much of a twist over ID cards, I really don't.

I am a law abiding chap, I have nothing to hide.

OK, so I pay for an ID card. And?

I think you will find its a little known fact that if you drive a car, by law you MUST carry an ID card.

So what an ID card, er I'll pay. Who else?

    I agree..

I know I'm in the minority as ID card's have been mentioned a few times before and I still stand by the fact that if you have "nothing to hide" then ID card's are of no harm to an innocent person.

I don't think we should be forced to pay for one though. Surely the money saved on benefit and tax cheat's would cover the cost of the card's...

  2. another MSE muppet

Our house had now been on the market since last July - we had sold but it fell through at last moment - we've been living in rented in another part of the country since November. We have now had just short of 100 viewings! It's an 9 year old estate house, 4 beds, en-suite etc, 3 parking spaces, conservatory, backs onto open farmland, canal walks etc. Obviously the EA has no problem getting people in so we haven't gone down the route of changing. We are having the garden kept up to scratch and all parties are at a loss as to why we haven't had any more offers. It's very reasonably priced comparable to similar properties.

Does anyone have any tips on what we might do - I am a bit worried that people are disappointed when they view an empty house after having seen the Rightmove pictures which were taken when it was furnished and look really good. We actually wondered if it now appears too cheap, there is a property nearby with exactly the same layout but a North facing garden and no conservatory which is on for 15K more - maybe we should start again with another EA?

  3. Except it's not cheap for the end user (victim), they now have to pay £150k for the privilege, along with service fees and they have full liability for maintenance, including whenever the housing authority decides to arbitrarily bill you for £20k to replace the roof, £5k for your work and £15k to cover your chavish neighbours. The previous generation of slums had an advantage, at least people could run away and escape, now they're expected to purchase their own small part of the impending hades.

I agree, these flat's are going to prove very expensive...

  4. I agree, it's the same idea from the 60's all over again.

Cheap slum housing/flats, described as state executive/modern/affordable.. etc etc.

Only this time round the building's are going to errode at a much faster rate, given their cheap construction.

They'll all be council run leaky, smelly, dirty crack den's in 10 years time...

  5. I'm a 19 year old student and live in the South East of England. I have been reading this forum for a few hours straight and find it very interesting to read the various threads.

Well anyway, I was just wondering if there's other people that are really loving the housing market right now? My family currently have 7 properties and the values have sky rocketed since the boom around 1997 (when we started buying). My parents don't even work and just manage the buy-to-letted properties which is easy "work" :D We live in a very nice four bedroom detached house with a large drive (10+ car place) and a fairly big garden and are planning an extension this summer or autumn.

We had 5 properties in this city in the South East but this year we bought 2 properties in Surrey, Greater London where we found a very good place for investing/buy-to-let. As there's a university close by there's incredible demand for rented accomodation for students and sometimes young professionals. Each property leaves a nice amount left over so we'll hopefully buy more here or invest elsewhere.

Finally, I just want to say how incredibly well we've done and anyone can do it. All you have to do is buy-buy-buy in well thought out locations.

    Good Luck :P

I too live in the SE,

I would really like to meet you, perhaps go for a drink somewhere in your "City in the South East" (I'm guessing Canturbury) to discuss a money making scheme I was thinking of.

    Feel free to PM me...:ph34r::ph34r:
