  1. How many major car manufacturers are British now? Are major foreign manufacturers going to keep building ICE cars just for us because we can’t sort out the infrastructure, or are we more likely to be forced to do something? The infrastructure is pretty good here in a major city in the US and there are more and more EVs on the road. Tons of Teslas. I personally want to keep an ICE for as long as possible, ideally I want a V8, but I think EVs are suitable for a lot of people
  2. As I said, I’m pro gold. I was only responding to your strange comment about all time highs
  3. I do like gold and I own gold and miner stocks. But I own it mainly as a hedge for any future financial crisis (though I’ve done very well from HMY, EGO, KGC and SBSW) and I don’t think boasting about gold being above its all time high was a particularly good argument. Is that trolling? Show me some all time high comparisons of various assets then explain why that’s a good argument for gold
  4. Ignoring the fact that the all time high for gold is barely above where it was in 2011. And adjusted for inflation is below where it was in the 80s.
  5. I get it… but it’s a bit of a childish reason to want someone elected as president of the most powerful country in the world just to wind people up who can see how awful he is, as a person and at the job. I suppose that’s what (mostly right) politics has become now. Anything to annoy or score points against the other side. Trump will prepare them well, telling them months in advance that if he loses it will be because it’s a rigged election, and they’ll lap it up.
  6. You love this guy almost as much as you love Peter Schiff. Have you thought of moving to Argentina?
  7. I only have GBTC in my tax advantaged retirement accounts, IRA, 401k, HSA etc. Outside tax advantaged I stick to self custody
  8. Makes sense. I was going to convert what I have in GBTC as their fees are crazy compared to the new ones.
  9. No, I don’t/didn’t know how they work. OTC still comes from somewhere and should soak up supply right? Yea I know, I just would have expected significant demand on the first days the etfs were available to translate to significant demand of actual bitcoin and drive the price higher due to static supply. But like I say I’m clueless on how they operate. I’ll stick to self custody for now 😂
  10. Just traded between etf holders? What are the net inflows? That’s what should in theory, if they're actually backed by bitcoin, lead to an increase in demand and a rise in price, which hasn’t happened so far. If anything it’s been buy the rumour, sell the news.
  11. Enjoy! Let’s see whether your tangible jar investment does better than bitcoin over the next year.
  12. warping makes a sensible post about being mature about it and you two jump at the chance to explain how bitcoiners are idiots. Nice one I was a gold bug. Hasn’t served me as well as I’d hoped but that’s life, I still hold. I’m also a bitcoin fanatic (not crypto) on the fundamentals and that’s served me well so far. But I’m not going to try to convince anyone because it’s all been said before and you either agree or disagree and that’s fine
  13. Lots of nonsense to dispute but I’ll wait until its posted over on the other thread
  14. There are no central services. You only need to know a few other nodes already in the network. Blocking is not possible with encryption. Life can be made difficult but you can’t completely block it without taking down the internet. They haven’t even blocked torrents and they do have central servers for finding other peers
  15. You’re right about the trend being your friend. Not sure you’re looking at the right trend though
  16. So cratering means flat lining? Do you have a glossary I can refer to because I think I’m misunderstanding your posts
  17. A post with random assertions backed by absolutely no evidence will dictate your financial direction? Good luck
  18. Same for me. I could pay mine off now but it’s fixed at 3% for the next 29 years. I’m pretty sure I can beat that with diversified investments. Obviously a different story if you have interest rate risk
