  1. Went down to Weymouth yday to watch the sailing. Drove straight in to the town at about 12pm, and parked in the railway station CP. No traffic anywhere. (Going back in the evening was pretty clear as well, even tho we went back during rush hour). They said Nothe Fort was sold out (c 4k tickets?) for the official ticketed area, but the northern breakwater, rocks under the fort, 1/3rd of the Nothe itself, and the Nothe Gardens are all free to enter (although there were guards counting people in & out). Reckon there were probably 1k people in our bit, so maybe 3k people watching o/s the ticketed area. Live Arena on the beach looked empty, had capacity for 15k with the big screens but perhaps 2k there sat on the sand? We didn't go in as I couldn't be bothered to go through the bag searches. Local rag said that the Bayside Festival had capacity for 9k, their peak attendance had been 3.6k, and that day they were expecting 2k (£10 per tkt, cut to £5, for some tribute bands & market stalls). So I think they've screwed up a bit & put people off ... But great to watch the sailing tho.
  2. This is what they do with their own members' money ... http://order-order.com/2012/07/24/justine-greenings-agent-in-add-lee-fraud-mess/ Guido has been leaked details of an internal inquiry into Justine Greening’s former agent and current Wandsworth councillor, Robert Morritt. The agent for the Wandsworth Conservative Group at the 2010 election stands accused of running a secret Addison Lee taxi account that racked up over £26,000 in journeys between 2008 and 2010. Despite billing thousands monthly over two years, members of the group’s management committee had no idea of the taxi account’s existence and it was hidden in the books.ng an LOL here.

Germany, 53.2% 3. Austria, 57.4% Get the picture?" Comments are as usual interesting.
  5. Seem to be a fair # of new houses, price cuts, and UO->Available in the last mth or so ... anyone else noticing that?
  6. Sorry to steal your thunder! I never ever pick up the Standard, but I made an exception tonight. Good bear food even if people don't pick it up, basically outside every tube & rail station tonight it's shouting "House prices fall in London". I live in South London, but I'm only buying when there is blood in the water.
  7. Apologies if this has been posted already ... this was the front page of the Evening Standard tonight. ... "House prices in London have fallen for the first time in 30 months, figures reveal today." http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/london/london-property-prices-the-first-cracks-7778000.html
  8. Ok so I lose ... some munchkin has seen the price cut and made an offer ... 9. For 630 you can probably get a house the same size needing a bit of work (with room to expand blah blah) on Hydethorpe, within the Henry Cavendish catchment. I guess if you put this on at a stupid px, you'll get some genius offering 5-10pc under, thinking they've got a bargain, and actually offering 50-100 over what a normal person would pay.
  10. Wotcha ... http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9623124.West_Cliff_residents____anger_at_flats_cash_call/?ref=mr WE'RE TRAPPED' • Jane Newman has a two-bedroom flat at Admiral’s Walk. She pays just under £4,000 a year in maintenance charges and her buildings’ insurance bill, which was £240 in 2009, is now £746. She said: “We are trapped in our homes. We can’t sell our property, we can’t move forward with our lives. We had a tenant who wanted to buy our property but couldn’t take on the maintenance charge. “All the problems are due to the bad management of the block. They have never, ever tried to cut costs. They are now talking about a 25 per cent increase. People can’t keep paying these amounts but we’re stuck because we can’t sell.” • Rosemary Lovelock has a three-bedroom flat in the block. She said: “I already pay £6,500 a year in service charges and I have been told it’s going up by 25 per cent, which I object to. Even if we had the money how can they justify such high charges?” • Rosemary Shelton rents a flat in Admiral’s Walk with her daughter. She said: “The maintenance charges are upwards of £4,000 a year and I have just had an insurance charge of £1,000. My daughter wanted to buy the flat but she couldn’t get a mortgage on it because of the high service charges.” l But resident John Fray defended the board. He said: “The board is open and transparent in what it does and there are AGMs where votes on all the issues are taken. “We’ve just had one where there was very good attendance and a unanimous vote of thanks to the board for the work they are doing. “It’s not a paid position and the amount of stress and strain they had to put up with is not helpful and not right.”
  11. Sat in v expensive Balham but beginning to think about returning to the land of my fathers (well grandfather from Lleyn and grandmother from Swansea). Not sure who the Londoners are who are selling high & buying low (well, pretty high) in Wales. Not much selling round our neck of the woods, but anecdotally most people are (still) moving to Surrey to commute in.
