  1. Ridiculous knee jerk authoritarianism. Does that mean John Hurt isn't allowed to make any more films?
  2. Where's that fear, capitulation, etc. graph when you need it?
  3. Who could have guess that a professional estate agent would know more about the property market than a random bunch on lunatics on the **** end of the internet.
  4. This is shit politics as most of that type of loser will vote Labour anyway. There's no point pandering to the core vote or piling up more useless votes in safe seats. The GE will be won and lost in aspirational, middle class middle England. Blair understood this.
  5. I worked in Germany for over a year and in my experience German capitalism doesn't differ too greatly from any other type. We had people on the shop floor earning 700 euro/month and a good supply of managers on over 100k euro pa.with just as much politics, incompetence and general mayhem as any British or American company I've worked in. I found the biggest differences compared to the UK were: a foreigners opinion on anything isn't worth shit and they had an absolutely cringeworthy atitude to authority that caused great amusement among the expat Brits, Aussies, Americans.
  6. Burning calories worrying about what cars other people drive (typically symbolised by the X5) has long been a HPC.co.uk staple.
  7. Because, obviously, there's probably less than a hundred blokes in the country who can play Premier League football at the highest level. Supply and demand...
  8. Next leg down... Any day now... Bears need to face up to the fact that it's over and they've been had.
  9. But what's the point of hammering some bloke because he drives an X5 or goes to Bali when his environmental impact is inconsequential compared to someone who craps out 6 kids?
  10. If people really care about CO2 then the number one thing they should do is not have kids. If we get this mad scheme it will be only fair if shitting a sprog out causes a massive defecit in one's personal CO2 allowance.
  11. Nope, I have NAB account using my Belgian address. Why would NAB care? They're getting your cash after all.
  12. Only in the sense that they're not. The official communist caucus in Die Linke is 1% of the membership. And, when DL, gets into power, such as at state level in Bremen they have either reverted to SDP type centre left policies or indulged in vicious infighting until the coalition collapses. The whole of the German polity has just lurched right with a new CDU/CSU/FDP coalition at Federal level. There is no left revival, hard or otherwise. Cyprus have a Communist president though so perhaps your red shoots are breaking through the capitalist permafrost a bit further south.
  13. Die Linke aren't really the "old commies", they're more a ragtag coalition of malcontents and other ghastly leftists of which the remains of the SED (the old commies) are but one part. They only got about 11% in the Federal election so I'm not sure that qualifies as "voting in strength". You need to seperate the cultural phenomenon of Ostalgie from the poltical movement of Die Linke. They're not the same thing at all.
  14. Because the other bloke is going to pay 10 quid an hour more cash in hand. Because the other factory is in Newquay and mine is in Hartlepool.
  15. Because he's an awesome joiner (or whatever) that works faster and to a higher quality than the others. I'm worried he may leave if I don't sort him out. The idea that everyone will start behaving differently because the state legislates that we're all equal now is laughably naive and deluded.
  16. What happens to me if I decide to pay someone more than the controlled wage? Jail? Asset seizure?
  17. What's a "decidedly non-free-market advantage"? How would one be fostered in an Anarchocapitalist society where the only law are property rights?
  18. I've got to say if I were going to cave it all in and have a full blown affair (as opposed to just sport f***ing) it wouldn't be with a little goblin like Molls.
  19. Here's your Belgian property market update. I've just got back from holiday and the three remaining houses in the village have sold and another two new builds have started. One of the houses was horrible as it was a 1 bedroom house and 1 bedroom flat in the same building that had next door's garage in the front garden. Sold for 390k! I'm stunned and realise I've probably f***ed myself out of at least 50k by selling too low...
  20. US. Just finished living in the French speaking part of Belgium for 7 years so I've had a gut full of francophone corporatism. E2A: Also lived in California for two years but wouldn't necessarily choose that part of the US again.
  21. You said it was "better". Why wouldn't you want it if it were the superior model?
  22. Well sure, if you think 20% unemployment for the under 25s is 'a price worth paying'.
