This one is worth keeping an eye on. Originally on the market for 299, sold for 250 at end of Feb, and now asking for 525. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-83235989.html I have seen a few on the market in Kendal that look like flippers but who haven't finished off the gardening for some reason.

Kendal certainly looks pretty bouyant lately. Anything decent for under 300k doesn't stay on the market for long.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5953445/Rotherham-Knightsbridge-worst-places-sell-house-UK.html It's longer according to this article, but exactly what the timespan covers is somewhat ambiguous:

Why Work when you can’t afford a home

What's the alternative? Unless you have a very convincing backstory/sob story you won't enjoy a good lifestyle on the benefits system. -

That first one has a local occupancy clause. Kendal simply doesn't have enough well paid employment to justify these prices, plus the top end council tax that will apply. The only thing it's got going for it is that it's en route to the lakes.

Someone in the other thread is buying a hardware wallet. It's going to cost 6$ and take 6 hours to confirm the transaction for it. Far from the instant and zero cost narrative that people make out. Take away the speculative aspect and there is really very little to appeal to the ordinary man.

The Bubbly Bitcoin Thread -- Merged Threads
ThePiltdownMan replied to NatterJackToad's topic in House prices and the economy
The trouble is decentralisation is also inefficient. Every node needs to receive every transaction broadcast. This requirement for synchronisation acts against increasing the throughput of transactions. That's why transactions are taking ages and carry significant fees. -

You can live in a house, and get a yield on your stocks. With crypto you can only exchange it for something else, hopefully for more than you paid for it. -

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/12/11/ibm_to_expunge_over_500_people_in_latest_redundo_round/ It's actually close to four times that number.
