  1. From Fourty two. Relocated to near Holsworthy -16 miles north of Launceston - in April 2010. Great place to live, less busy than south Devon and houses are less expensive. Sellers still expecting more than is realistic for the current market. If you are in a good position, i.e. house sold or cash buyer you'll be in a very strong position. We are 10 minutes from the coast around Bude - and we love it. Finding places very accesible. Still very much a relatively undiscovered part of the world and therefore quiet, relaxed and beautiful. Much, much less traffic. A lot of people from different parts of the Uk discovering it and making the move into the area looking for a less stressful, yet active life-style. the population in the n.w. devon area has risen by 33% in the last 20 years, but you wouldn't think so. Being marketed by the local council as Ruby Country. A bit out of the way if you want connections to motorways and urban centres (Exeter and Plymouth about 50 minutes away) - that's a plus for me. If you want an active country and coastal life it's got a lot to offer. Maybe its a bit low key, but none the worse for that, and there's plenty going on if you have specific interests - singing groups/choirs, walking, surfing, golf, drama groups, archery, fishing ( sea and inland lakes}, tennis, swimming ( all nearby - one or two of them about 8 miles away). And some really good and not expensive eating places. And little Holsworthy even has a Waitrose!
