  1. The Independent called me back after about 15mins of replying to the email posted by the OP. This suggests that they are struggling for contributors, so it's worth a punt
  2. After a couple of drams, I completed a questionnaire for firstrung fom a link on this website. Just got a call from the Independent but they're only interested in FTB's struggling to get a mortgage. I explained my position ie/ could get a mortgage but don't want one as I'm in no rush to buy at current prices. Had a lovely chat for about 5mins regarding the BTL budget, shared ownership, high house prices are bad for the UK etc, etc. She's calling the editor to see if they can 'use' my opinions and may get back to me. I'll not hold me breath.
  3. It's really quite depressing round that part of town nowadays, although the empty shop windows have been filled by people with various levels of artistic flair - I reckon the council have allowed students to showcase their work. Lipstick & pig spring to mind. Sad really - I used to go in Pollards as a nipper and eat the coffee beans
  4. For some reason, the Express aren't allowing readers comments? Bugga, I was hoping Sibbers would get the opportunity steady the boat.
  5. Posted 05 January 2011 - 06:32 PM -1.3%. Don't know why and I'm rubbish at guessing Do I get a prize? It were the snow that done it...

  7. I knew I'd get some jip for that post. I'm getting totally b*mmed at the mo' as I'm a tad risk averse and my savings are being slowly chipped away. However, people on this site are a tiny minority, in that most understand the banking system, debt & thw cyclical nature of markets. The 'great' british public have been conned into taking c0ck-shrivelling on debt for fear of missing the boat. I pity these people for their ignorance, but it's the btl brigade & holiday home owners I want to see burn.
  8. I take absolutely no pleasure from these stories - they've f**ked up, but there's no need to bathe in their stupidity.
  9. Bang on = I know several teachers and nowadays they help kids to pass exams, nothing more. +
  10. Good luck to the buyer aswell - they'll need it
  11. Although it's annoying that the beeb have jumped on this straight away & given it a polished turd of a headline, it's stil a bearish article. Soothing words of wisdom from chief 'economist' martin: "Despite December's increase, house prices have fallen in four out of the last six months and it would be premature to suggest that the recent downward trend has been broken on the basis of one month's figures," said the building society's chief economist Martin Gahbauer.
  12. Recently, the comments section of these articles read like a bear orgy - I'd like to think we aren't soley responsibe for this. However, I do enjoy giving a red arrow to strokers like beth who are utterly ignorant to the debilitating effects of expensive housing.

  14. With all the cheap & easy money around at the mo, this is a distinct possibility...
  15. I bought the FT this morn and placed it next to the milk & sugar in the canteen. It was still there at 4 o'clock, so several hundred people would have seen it. The gloves are off now - I aim to be personally responsible for the crash of Sheffield's housing market.....
