  1. Yes of course I have. But we live under the capitalist system which means we have to [email protected] each other over to survive. I have to do what I have to do.
  2. very much the greek-cypriot mindset also. we work hard, buy productive assets and pass these down to our kids. trick as you say, is to not let the kids get lazy and develop a sense of entitlement, but keep them a little hungry so they go out and acheive something for themselves. most GC parents overdo it and spoil their kids, but there are a clever minority who wait until kids are in their 40's before passing down the wealth (doing this myself. each of my kids will get a plot of land here in cyprus and a small terraced house in london, paid off. but they won't know about it until they are well into their 30's). I see nothing wrong with it, it is normal human behaviour to us. IMO the british way, spend everything on beer and fags and leave your kids to struggle alone, is the wrong one. we are family people and the family has to prosper as a unit. what worse thing is there, than to see your kids struggle with debt and slave their whole lives just for a roof over their heads ?
  3. If the development has a certificate of completion and is waiting for title deeds to be issued by the land registry (ktimatologion) then you might be fine. this is common practice out here. However what usually happens is that the developer re-mortgages the land that the development sits on and therefore buyers cannot split the plot into individual properties to get their title deeds. how much he is asking for this villa, location, age, etc ?
  4. I very much doubt that the majority of black men are like yourself. I would think only about 30%. I repeat, poverty is a symptom and not the cause. You've got it the wrong way around. If it were simply a problem of poverty then all poor people would be confined to ghettoes indefinetly. You conveniently overlook my argument that other immigrant groups manage to escape the poverty cycle and elevate themselves out of the ghettoes, yet the vast majority of blacks do not. There is something going on inside the black community that hamstrings them - be it fatherless households, lack of any kind of work ethic or something else. I am a bit amused by your accusations that I am reinforcing a negative sterotype. Do you not think that black 'culture', where violence, drug taking and murder of your own kind are seen as something to be admired, respected and emulated, do not contribute at all to negative stereotypes of black men ?
  5. Sorry I don't buy it. The vast majority of immigrant groups end up poor and in the inner cities. The vast majority escape to more affluent suburbs. You can see it with the Jews, Greeks, Turks, Indians, Chinese etc (been there myself, being the child of immigrants.) Why can they escape yet the black 'community' cannot ? You are not going to tell me that the blacks got any more racism than the Hasidic Jew, or Indians fresh off the boat who can barely speak English.
  6. I grew up in tottenham, finsbury park, edmonton, mostly council estates parents and sisters and friends all still there, althought they managed to move out to (marginally) better areas like ponders end/ enfield wash/ edmonton bush hill park borders. i was clever enough to escape. nobody can question my streetwise credentials, if it comes to a north london shithole dick-swinging contest As i said on another thread, the problem is the lack of family structure amongst blacks. They rarely marry or have monogamous relationships with one partner, lots of kids born to very young mothers from lots of different men. Mark Duggan, the scumbag who was shot by the police, himself had 4 kids from different women. No male role models other than what they see on tv in rap videos etc. No discipline or any kind of control from the parent (s). Seen it over and over, nobody can tell me different. The problem is generic and reaches into all the black communities worldwide, which is why they never get anywhere. Look at the USA, Africa, Europe, you name it. The few black communities who do progress, like the ghanaians, have very strong religious values and are very family oriented. It's not really my problem. it's their problem, a black problem. but they make it my problem. Fricking chinese, indians, vietnamese move in and within a generation they have business, educated their kids at the best uni's and own their own homes. A million poles in the UK, all poor and scratching a living at shit jobs, are they rioting ? Blacks have themselves to blame
  7. You hit the nail on the head these people CAN'T work they are not unemployed, they are unemployable a liability to any business

  9. Sherwick is right, i'm from Edmonton just up the road from Tottenham, family still live there, still maintain close links to the area it's just feral scumbags, generation after generation born into poverty, no values or morals, looking for trouble, excitement, and some free loot don't overthink it or attach any weighty moral/sociological arguments to whats going on in London now. There isn't any. its little shits with no discipline running riot, and they need to be brought under control p.s mark duggan was a *****
  10. HAHAHA ! NAAAAM! I havn't heard that in aaaaages.... I grew up just up the road in Edmonton, what a toilet.
  11. Emigrate England's rubbish anyway
  12. Yeah, but you might not be happy.
  13. then you fall into category 'B': if you don't want to buy a house or cannot afford it, then don't.
  14. yeah I know, I was just making a point but even if you paid off in the full term, 20 years, you would be almost half done by now, instead of wating and waiting for something that might never happen
  15. If you don't need a house that's fine. Others have wives, kids, want to move on with their lives. I've been on this site since the beginning, 2003 or 2004 I don't remember which, and the sky was about to cave in back then. thats seven or eight long years for a lot of these posters, wishing away their lives to save a few grand. the average life of a UK mortgage is 8 years, some of them coulda bought back then and been done by now money aint everything
  16. they can bail them out however many times they need to it's just numbers on a computer screen at the end of the day
  17. Just get on with your life. if you want to buy a house, and can afford to buy a house, then buy a house. if you don't want to buy a house or cannot afford it, then don't. What's the big deal ? There's always some Jeremiah telling you that armageddon is just around the corner. It might never come. Or it might.
  18. I predicted this in another thread, can't find it now. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/13/greek-crisis-athens-rural-migration 90% of greeks come from a village and still retain their patriachal homes. in the event of a big crisis, peak oil or whatever, greece will fare far better than the UK as the people have a safety valve. they can return to their ancient villages, fix up their old homes and farm the land. i think this trend will gain momentum in greece
  19. I tell you what. I'll take my chances in my Mercedes and you take yours in your Chery.
  20. Hmm. Unconvincing i'm afraid. No corporation wants to produce poor quality goods because that would drive them out of business. and disposable doesn't necessarily mean poor quality. You can give china the specs and control the supply chain and they will still find a million ways to rip you off and give you a shoddy finished product. Agree with you about the XRV750 and the VFR750. Great bikes, Japanese of course ! China may become great at something, but manufacturing quality goods won't be it.
  21. that's exactly my point. the japanese made goods of questionable quality early on, but they learned very quickly from their mistakes. their products rapidly gained a reputation for reliability because it is part of the japanese national psyche to approach everything with utmost care, patience and precision. these qualities manifest themselves in japan's manufactured goods, the same way german goods tend to reflect that nation's characteristics. how can you not liken a german car to the german people ? reliable, sturdy and very well engineered. goods are a reflection of the poeple who produce them. the chinese have been grinding away at manufacturing for almost three decades now with no appreciable improvement in quality. their mindset is compeltely different. they cannot (yet) produce good quality goods without western guidance, an i'm not sure they will ever be able to. the only reason they have risen to any sort of prominence in the last few years is because we bought all their junk. that's changing now.
