  1. +1, what a mess, real life stories from Ireland. Some of the outstanding mortgages vs current house values made me wince. http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=180470 €290,000 mortgage, house value €115,000, if you can find a buyer ...
  2. So any hope of saving the company has just gone out the window?
  3. It's not just TV, radio and print there is an email campaign too, I received an email this morning from Barratt Homes - "Paece, if you've got a 5% deposit, you could get your first home", body of the email contained a price example and a picture of a tiny nasty two bed semi-detached. It looks like one of my relatives houses, you can sit in the front room watching telly and listen to people farting in the back upstairs bedroom, nice. "5% deposit, 75% mortgage, 100% easy" - no thanks!
  4. I seem to recall a few threads on the Money Saving Expert forums stating the OU are pretty ruthless in pursuing people for outstanding fees if they drop out of the course they're doing, very little sympathy and debt collection agencies called in at the drop of a hat.
  5. +1 I occasionally passed through St Leonards Warrior Square and it always gave me the heebie jeebies, it was like going back to the 1930's depression era, run down, hopeless and desperate. Cheap properties but strange rootless atmosphere. I met a few locals and knew if I lived there it wouldn't be long before I ended up like them. Great Yarmouth is another, the amount of poundlands and second hand shops is incredible. It's like financial gangrene/frostbite, the extremities die first ...
  6. +1 LL is apparently a nice guy and not very well, this kind of stuff probably not helping.
  7. Tenant is claiming they never moved out yet were gone for two weeks, were in arrears and left two cats with no food - banged up maybe?
  8. Anecdotal; Friend of a friend etc (don't want to put too much detail/identifiers) - man is currently divorcing wife and splitting the several houses and five btl flats between them. All the flats are let and all are in arrears with rent due to tenants not passing on HB payments. One of the tenants recently moved out without telling LL. Neighbour eventually alerted LL who went round and found place in a mess and two starving cats. LL put padlock on door. Tenant has suddenly moved back in and refuses to move out or pay rent. Flats are on outskirts of London.
  9. superb bass mix. I've got Andy's autograph on a Mean Fiddler flyer somewhere from the '90's.
