  1. More common and more destructive than many people realize. Snakes in Suits by Robert Hare and The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson are both eyeopeners and I had a kerching moment when I read them.
  2. Pharmacist locum rates have declined over 11 years. In 2003, average rate was £23 per hour during weekdays, and £28 per hour during weekends. In 2014, average rate is £20 per hour during weekdays, and £23 per hour during weekends. The government has recently announced that there will be NO cap on pharmacist student numbers - unlike doctors, dentists and vets, there has already been a huge increase in schools of pharmacy thus putting a downward pressure on pharmacy wages. The Pharmacy degree is 4 years long - it will cost over £60,000 to complete - it is HIGHLY specialised. Many kids will
  3. The atmospheric house in Mumbles is for sale: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-47394658.html £350,000 guide price It's being sold at auction on December 17 so it may be possible to gauge the real state of the market.
  4. In the UK, a relatively small number of individuals and organisations own the majority of the land - unlike the rest of northern Europe. Although, this might be about to change: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/dec/03/landowners-scotland-britain-feudal-highland-spring
  5. £649,950 for a gloomy house with Townhill close at hand: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-46281328.html £320,000 for a two bedroom apartment: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-43988347.html More flats in mumbles going for £300k+ Why? I suspect property prices in Swansea are not going to come down to reasonable levels. You will have to know what you want, learn about the market and keep and eye out for a bargain.
  6. I am still amazed what rubbish 300K will buy in Swansea. I'm tempted to go back oveseas. I found this interesting: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/dec/03/landowners-scotland-britain-feudal-highland-spring
  7. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-46215682.html Is this house good value? I noticed someone on a nearby street has split a similar house into two separate flats AND are selling each flat for a price close to the price of an undivided house. On another street someone is trying to sell the leasehold of a house at a freehold price. I've worked overseas and the quality of life is, generally, much better.
  8. Ah. The student rental properties near the old Swansea Institute must have been affected by a new purpose built block of flats for students http://freshstudentliving.co.uk/location/swansea/st-davids-swansea/ I'm not looking for a btl, I'm looking for a home with rental income. When I grew up in the 70s the Uplands looked like Hampstead.
  9. The Uplands is near the hospital and the university, but there are a regular stream of HMOs coming onto the market, e.g. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-46215682.html
  10. I am new to the housing market. I am considering buying a home to live in that I can rent to post-grads or nurses.
  11. Step away from the crack pipe! 6 bedroom HMO for 499,950. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-47187796.html Including the smallest rooms I have ever seen.
  12. WOW this one looks ok: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-32694465.html I have been too jaded and cynical.
  13. This increasingly feels like the 1930s. Creepy. Anyhow, £259,000 for a house in mumbles with an ex-council house vibe: http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/34901783
  14. A small house for £309,000 - is this normal for Mumbles? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-46687967.html
