  1. Hi, There was a previous thread along these lines back in April but here's a situation for you to give advice on. Couple buy a house (joint mortgage). She puts in the 10k deposit and pays 1/3rd of payments. He does not put in a deposit and pays the two-thirds. They split up. At the time, they are in negative equity to the tune of £5000. As an aside, selling isn't an option until January as a £7000 early redemption penalty would apply. There is no penalty for a transfer of equity (just £150 fee). He is considering this. But what would a fair offer be? While it may 'sting' that she put in 10k... technically her share is worth less than nothing now? So it would be fair to ask for her to 'gift' the share? Looking forward to your opinions!
