  1. Really? See, I don't think that scaring the shit out of half the population and rendering a nation's food supply inedible will help the industry at all.
  2. Actually, in real numbers (i.e. not the smaller American numbers that politicians use) a million millions is a billion. A billion billions is a trillion.
  3. As I'm sure you know, Necrotising Fasciitis is a condition, not an organism. Many bacteria can cause it, the most common being streptococcus pygones. which is pretty much ubiquitous. Basically, you already have the bacteria responsible in you.
  4. Damn straight. Our ancestors didn't go to all the effort of butchering those Anglo-Saxon knuckle-draggers for nothing...That said, my lot found the Anglo-Saxons too brutish and repulsive even to have as subjects and moved up among the far nicer Picts.
  5. We'll see about that over the next few years. You're probably in for an unpleasant shock.
  6. Smoke a pipe. I do, and it is so much cheaper (and more pleasant) than the floor-sweepings-in-bogroll that they sell as cigarettes you wouldn't believe it.
  7. What heartwarming, inspiring images. Full of hope. Industry, cities, people and cars all rot away to nothing in the end. Very reassuring. How do we speed it up?
  8. Great idea. Apart from the bit where solar power only works when it's sunny and uses large amounts of very rare materials and involves all manner of pollution being created in its manufacture and the bit where you have to put exactly the amount of energy into releasing hydrogen from water that you get from burning it. So...crap idea, actually. Geothermal and hydro are the way forward until we come up with something more exotic. Of course, just bumping of 6 billion useless proles would help a lot, too. I'd be all for nuclear if it wasn't so apparent that private companies can't be trusted with it and governments can't afford it.
  9. Nah; it's private sector scum up to their usual tricks.
  10. I suspect it would. I also suspect it would be a damned lie. You couldn't pay me to eat seafood from that part of the world now. They're just lucky that it doesn't make up a major portion of their diet or anything. Oh, wait....
  11. My grandfather was a joiner and, at the end of his career, spent some time in the employ of a big housebuilding firm. He used to complain bitterly about the corner-cutting and sub-standard materials. He reckoned those buildings were unsafe and would stay up for maybe forty years at most if properly maintained, a lot less if not. That was twenty years ago; I very much doubt the situation has improved.
  12. That's assuming those Barrat-built shit-crates don't fall down before then. Sod it, I'm building my own.
  13. Radioactive fungi? That sounds awesome! It's like a 1950s B-movie!
  14. Help to buy a crappy new-build timberframe piece of crap? ****** that.
  15. Very poetic, but a piss-poor attempt at justifying more than two hundred years of industrialised stupidity.
  16. Given that we don't currently have evidence of a xenomorph infestation, I don't think he was being serious.
  17. What's happening at the Tokai plant just now? Has the place been reduced to a glowing blue puddle yet or what?
