  1. Up against the Pound today, so not all doom and gloom.
  2. I'm prepared to take the bait on this one. Someone's got to after all: are the lesbians fit?
  3. May I just say a big "thank you" for making this known. You've taken action to make a difference and it's good to see you've been successful. This should count towards your contribution to the Conservatives' "Big Sociery".
  4. Anyone know if it's going to be repeated on,C4, E4, More 4, Effin' 4, C4+48 etc?
  5. Radio 5 Live's 8pm news bulletin just said the rescue package is worth "$146". So not as bad as everyone feared then.
  6. To be fair that's a big CPO, not just the run of the mill 'organic' dereliction you get in large parts of Liverpool. They're going to turn it into an extension of the M62, making it one of the prettier parts of the city!
  7. Fags up by quite a lot. Beer up a fair bit. Scotch not affected.
  8. My gas has just run out. Edit: Sorry it hasn't run out at all. I just forgot to switch the cooker on.
  9. [rant] Christ I wish people would appreciate that that "there is no such thing as society" quote actually has a context and is not simply a stand-alone sound bite. Feckin' eejits just hear those seven words and then they decide that they suddenly understand everything there is to understand about life, the universe and Thatcher. Wake up, thickos:- Link On second thoughts don't bother. If you think you've got everything figured out just because you've heard that she said "There is no such thing as society", there's really no point pretending that you could ever understand what it really meant. [/rant]
  10. "B Of The Bang" and not in Hulme. I wish they'd fix it and put it back. Bloody beautiful. Wikipedia
  11. Yes, I would say there are traces of over-development in Manchester City Centre.
  12. A great big sarcastic "Thank You" to the people of Ireland for voting for the Lisbon Treaty from someone living in a country whose population was denied the chance to vote. Seeing you be hung out to dry by your federalist mates really does go some way toward mitigating my annoyance that, one way or another, we will end up flushing our own money down the Greek bog. Or will you get the last laugh as we throw a load of cash over to you?
  13. They haven't been selling out every game this season though and I've heard a couple of people say they applied for a season ticket last year and got one this season, so no wait at all. A 10% increase in tickets would bring in what - about £5 million a year more maybe IF attendances don't fall. Take out some for inflation and allow for a couple of thousand fewer per game and it will have almost no effect. Not that I'm gloating as a City supporter of course!
  14. I agree. But supposing the Dollar, Pound, Euro and Yen all tank - what would other countries / currencies do? On the one hand they would also want to devalue accordingly but on the other, it could be a great opportunity to snap up assets (eg property) in the those countries.
  15. Hopefully the banks will lock David James in a vault to keep the value of goalkeepers artificially high.
  16. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8434987.stm It's about house prices after all...
  17. If BA goes bust, who pays for the £3.7 billion black hole in their pension fund? Does the taxpayer cop for that too?
  18. Absolutely went for the security option, and I'm moderately confident it will turn out to be a good decision in the long run.
  19. I'm 2 1/2 years into a 10 year fix at 4.88%. I'm sick of friends and colleagues boasting about paying naff all per month when my payments haven't gone down by a penny!
  20. Can any clever people on here answer the question who donated money to CND when Cathy Ashton was Treasurer? USSR presumably.
