The best time to buy property was 69/70 and again in 1976, from then on wards you had to wait until 1992. In some areas 1997 was a great time. We were looking at cottages in Beccles Suffolk going for £29k and in the Town Centre a grade 2 listed building with courtyard and outer buildings for £90k, no sale, then overnight increased to £120k sold within days. Forward 2 years and those £29k cottages were selling for £80k. Looked at a great 5 bedroom house in 2000 with outbuildings, stables, and 2 acres of land with lots of off street parking for £229k. Questioned the EA about the plenty of off street parking, he smiled and said that is the quarter of a mile sole private road leading to the house. The property was viewed by myself and I must agree IMO was an absolute bargain considering my humble property when similar properties were sold for £100k during the same period. Eventually I did not buy it as Mrs CTT did not want to live too far from her elderly parents and I lost the opportunity of feeling a Lord of the Manor.

As a Pensioner I loved Jeremy with the Electric Scooters. I wonder if the DWP would supply me with the super 8 mph turbo model. I could then stop driving my car improving my carbon foot print and terrorising the younger generation pedestrians with my erratic manoeuvring.

Barclays Victims Club I saw a Guy with his placards yesterday parading in front of the local Barclays Branch claiming Barclays has lost him £50k. Evidently Barclays are being investigated over other investment opportunities they offered. The Club claim that Staff were told to fleece these customers.
