  1. By the way, anyone knows how to check if there were any insurance claims made for the house ? thx
  2. Thank you all for advice... House is a repossession and there is closing date for offers (Monday 5th). There is structural survey report ( haven't seen it ) for the building ,and according to EA they wouldn't be able to put it on the market without it ... Again according to EA someone have set the fire after eviction...neighbor said someone secretly lived in the building ( homeless )... I don't know anything about insurance . I'll try to get 2-3 quotes for the building work and my own survey ( 30k was my private estimate for the work ).
  3. The same way I feel now... I'm renting house for last 5 years and already spent over 40K for that... I just can't do it any more. I've managed to save 100k and decided to buy something that needs a lot of work but at the same time is valued much below normal market price. Going back to my initial question - anyone knows what makes un-motgageable/uninhabitable house mortgageable again?? Who makes that decision ??
  4. Let me explain the whole idea... 3 bed houses on the same street sell for 155 on average, asking price for the house is 90k. If bought for asking price and spend 30-35 for renovation should still end up with house worth 155 (spending 125-130max). I know it's Slough, and I would rather avoid living there but forgetting about sentiments -from financial point of view sounds interesting
  5. Hi All ! I'm interested in buying house -previously damaged by fire. House is un - mortgageable and uninhabitable in its current condition ( hence cash buyers only ).According to EA there is no structural damage and they have done structure survey to check that. I'm quite happy to pay asking price and do all the renovation work required but my question is : what are the requirements to make house mortgageable again ???What's do I have to do after renovation ? Thats the house rightmove link
  6. So there is no " official " way of checking property , if it's flat ? No surveys ? No Legal advice possible ? I can't believe there is no one to do that...
  7. Is it possible ?? EA insist that Maintenance company for this building went bankrupt and that's the only reason for cash sale ... Maybe that's the case but I don't trust EA Is there anyone I could hire to check building or legal staff ?? Does it have to lottery ??
  8. It's quite strange because building is relatively new ( 4-5 years old ) and it appears to be in perfect condition... There is no cracks ,leaks or mould ( I couldn't find any ) Flat is in poor condition ,there is no boiler fitted... but overall I couldn't find anything that could stop banks from lending against it  I don't have info about lease yet ,buy even if it would be running out could it be the reason for cash sale ?? It's all very confusing Anyone knows if there is any way of checking what could be wrong with that flat ??
  9. Hi all! Just viewed flat for cash buyers only : LINK <---- According to EA there is nothing wrong with flat.... They say there is no maintenance company and that's why you can't get a mortgage.... What could be wrong with that flat ?? Any ideas ??? Building looks ok .... Help please !!
  10. Hi all! I'm looking for flat to buy in Slough area. I found one nice looking flat but it's for cash buyers only... link<-- I don't know much about properties and don't really know why it's for cash buyers only ?? Is it possible that there is any legal problem or something wrong with building ?? EA said there is no Maintenance company and that's why it's for cash buyers only - don't know if I can trust EA ..... Could you help ,please . P.S. I was thinking about making offer around 80-85K ( if there's nothing wrong with flat ).
