  1. The sky is always falling in. Now go back and service your debt.
  2. I'm slightly acquainted with the nephew of a shopkeeper who sells cleaning fluid to Gordon Brown's brother, and he informs me that Gordon is a great guy and pretty good at snooker too.
  3. News from the Mail - Brighton property is booming... "The couple plan to buy a smaller house in Kemp Town, the area to the east of the city. 'Kemp Town has always had a distinctive, hip, village feel,' says Deo, 'and £350,000 will buy a good two-bedroom apartment." Oh that's sustainable. An apartment for 14 times the local average wage lol. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/property/articl...t-property.html
  4. The system is already in operation for a large proportion of young people i.e. those in tertiary education - end up very indebted after several years of doing nothing particularly useful. If this system was extended to the unemployed, it would encourage them to find a job, and when they got one, make them work harder to service the debt.
  5. One way the government could fill the black hole in their finances would be to charge people for being unemployed, rather than hand out money.
I thought Kraftwerk's second album was better. I never really liked any of their first 3 albums. The fourth was the real start, for me at least.
  7. Mark 6 2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? 4 But [he] said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
  8. Holiday lets can be bargained down if you're saying for a while. I just got 40% off a 3-week stay.
  9. University Arts courses don't produce artists. They produce people who can criticise artists, who occasionally become frustrated artists (often along with staying in academe), and rarely good ones. Remember Shakespeare didn't go to university. Nor Bach. Nor Beethoven. and so on...
  10. Aww your wife doesn't like telling people what your job is/ was! That's just too much. Think about what might have happened 8 centuries ago. The only way to effectively maintain such control over the coinage would be to regulate it strictly, hence why moneyors found to be producing under weight coinage or coinage of sub standard workmanship would be castrated and have their right hand removed. Whilst this system worked well up until the late eleventh century, by the early twelfth century the system was being abused. The coinage of Henry I produced from 1100 to 1135 became increasingly crude
  11. Just wait a little bit. You'll save a vast amount of money. And by then there'll only be a few Estate Agents left, the very most proactive ones.
  12. I do think the denial stage will last longer in Brighton than some other places, partly because Brighton as a city embodied many of the follies and aspirations of the boom years. But when it goes, it will really really go down in flames.
