  1. ..just watching newsnight... ...when the market results were announced they said... .."dow up nearly 200 points as fed announces end to rate rises"...
  2. ..it's not him.. ..it's Rumsfeld who owns the big stake...
  3. ...continue to spend..?? Savings Rise Again ..if people are worried about their jobs it doesn't matter how much cash is pumped their way... it will simply be saved...
  4. ..well yes i suppose... ..as long as you don't need viable arable land or water to drink...!!
  5. ..why..?? ..land is very short in australia... most of the massive area of that country is uninhabitable bush..!! ..i recently read a report which describes the ecology there as so fragile that a population of only 18 million... for the whole continent... is the sustainable limit....
  6. ..3 houses in an obscure semi-coastal Tyneside town... after cgt he might have enough left for a deposit on a garage in kent... ..good luck to him though... a decent idea but it sounds like it was poorly executed...
  7. ..just read this on the ft site... king sees risks to asset prices ..sounds like he's preparing the ground for a bit of inflation...
  8. ..i would say between 1999 - 2004 it didn't matter at all if a property had a negative yield.. as rampant HPI would bail out the investor... ..however with HPI now all but stopped... a negative yield is a one way ticket to bankruptcy... especially if the property is a geared investment....
  9. ...if by the 'south east' you really mean 'london' then i'd agree with you... but there aren't many places in the uk that are nicer than sussex...
  10. ..i heard this being discussed on radio 5 earlier... ..the figure of 20% tax on land sold for development was mentioned... ..and gordon wants to push ahead with increased house building 230k units per year up from 175k... ...so all in all.. a glut of development land being rushed to market before the tax is implemented and an increased supply of housing stock... ...you wait all year for a trigger.....
  11. ..no.. it isn't... ..but having a username like 'beenhearingthisforyears'... ..and referring to 'you' renters as if to distance yourself from such a sorry bunch... ..well i'm afraid that is the same.. ..run along there's a good little troll..
  12. ..give us an A............ ..give us a W.......... ..give us an O...... ..give us another O...
  13. ..any chance you could find a bit more then... UK Gas ...as this is becoming ridiculous...
  14. ...along similar lines check out this little quote from the telegraph.... ..hhmmmm Full Article
  15. http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/3046/ ..here's a generic tree hugger site which gives all sorts of ownership percentages for land.... i.e.. # 95% of the USA is owned by the richest 3% of Americans # 74% of United Kingdom is owned by the richest 2% of Britons # 84% of Scotland is owned by the richest 7% of Scots ...i can remember the post you're on about but it was ages ago and would take some searching for..!! ..so hopefully the site above will back up your case... but it looks like it was written by loonies..
  16. translated to mean... we need another focus group.. to work out how the taxpayers of the south east can further bankroll the basket case which is the north east of england...
  17. to be fair... that advice was given as the OP expressed an interest in networking... ...would a BSc in IT be an acceptable first degree..?? ...the missus is after a career change and would leap at the chance of doing a masters if the outcome could be as good as you describe..??
  18. ..i'm afraid it sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about and is very prone to exaggeration... there are in fact over 30 levels of cisco certification depending on which specialisation you wish to follow .. a replacement for A level course is NOT going to get anyone to CCIE level.. and a school leaver with no experience is going to get £150K as soon as hell freezes over and certainly not from BT they don't pay their own CCIE's that much... ...and incidently i have never been offered a blowjob by an interviewer... but i live in hope... ..to the OP i would concur with some of the advice already given... cisco certification is the gateway to an excellent career but it is not easy.... and you also need a fairly well rounded overall IT education as no network exists in isolation.. ..best of luck if it is the route you decide to follow... and don't worry too much about the cheap indian CCNA's mentioned earlier... most of them are crap... although to be fair they're fairly new to the game and will improve... but it takes them a nanosecond in the industry to realise they're being exploited and seek a more appropriate rate... so they wont depress wages too much...
  19. ..i am preparing to give up... ..not on the housing market but on the uk as a whole... i have lodged an application to emigrate.. ..so when i'm over on the expat forum i don't want you lot trolling my posts ok..!?
  20. ...nice one chuz... ..the lord of the flies is an excellent analogy for that site... ...not least because... in the end... piggy is cleaned out by a huge rock he just didn't see coming....
  21. ..do you mean the short sterling rates..??? Try This
  22. ..thanks for the post onedaymaybe... and welcome to the board... ..but i have to say if the situation you describe is typical... then it's one of the most depressing things i've read in a long time...
