  1. I got this from the turds metal blog, good blog if you follow metals (http://tfmetalsreport.blogspot.com/2011/06/waiting-for-bernank.html?commentPage=2) seemed pretty concise: WHAT QE IS "ABOUT": 1) Funding the deficit spending of the U.S. Federal Government 2) Providing free cash for insolvent TBTF/PD banks 3) Funding the deficit spending of the U.S. Federal Government 4) Creating the inflation necessary to service existing debts 5) Funding the deficit spending of the U.S. Federal Government 6) Infusing cash into the Primary Dealers which they, in turn, can use to buy S&P futures and prop up the stock market 7) Funding the deficit spending of the U.S. Federal Government Before The Bernank, takes the podium, please take a moment to ponder from where the U.S. government will find its $1,650,000,000,000 needed for next year without continued Quantitative Easing. 1) China? Nope. 2) Japan? Good one. 3) Europe? Mmmm, no. 4) The Middle East? Negative. 5) TBTF banks. Jim Rickards says so. He's fooling himself. $1.65T? From the banks? Hahaha.
  2. I'm sure its been posted before but this is worth a watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpZtX32sKVE&feature=player_embedded
  3. Wouldn't a monetary system reliant on exponential growth (2% is still exponential) result in Hyper inflation anyway at some point, especially butting up against a ceiling of finite resources?
  4. So bailout money instead of going straight to the banks it would go to the banks via the public? I don't see how this would reduced the power of the banks, they would just have even more money. Wouldn't a better idea be everyone en mass just telling them to piss off, then they would go under before 0.01% of anything get repossessed? I imagine both ideas are flawed but think both are better than what is going on at the moment
  5. Just put on the news to see their take on it but it has a far more important story - how to house train rabbits, I weep for the future!
  6. Oops, I just posted the exact thing, sorry mods, delete mine if there is a thread going.
  7. Not sure if this video has been posted before but it's well worth a watch, it's about the factories of people just signing mortgage documents on behalf of the big banks. One guy was meant to be a vice president, was on $10 an hour! Did this sort of thing happen here do you think? Thought Eric might get his red ink out for this one! http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7361572n
  8. Oh my god your right, the signals have been there from the start, he played Nick Leeson too! I don't remember him having great morals in Shallow grave either!
  9. If I remember correctly, doesn't he get clean and then become an estate agent?
  10. You're not the only one dude ;-) seen it today? nuts it's about to break $41, still on course for 500!
  11. Peak Oil probably won't help things either...
  12. I've just listened to that 5Live call again, absolutely brilliant, it's how he giggles at the end "but the salesman told us to" Top class stuff, should be compulsory aired before each X-Factor/Eastenders etc.
  13. Nothing demonstrates this better than this south park episode, watch the first 3 minutes, hilarious Financial Crisis And it's GONE!
  14. Check out the film Collapse - All about peak oil, it doesn't have the happiest outlook by any stretch of the imagination.
  15. I just watched something on this, check it out, the Dinar & Dirham bit is nearer the end, seems pretty sensible. I did like the spaniiard who took out 500K euros with no intention of paying it back and gave it to some charities.
  16. "Victoria Derbyshire: 10/08/2010 is unavailable at this time" In completely unrelated news, Stephen Nolan has taken up hill walking!
  17. I got ahead of myself and thought the iplayer link was live, turns out if you click the little sound icon under Steven Nolan it goes to yesterdays show (when he wasn't on) then do it again it goes back to today's, which is unavailable. Edit, he was on yesterday, but that's not the bearfest we are all seeking
  18. OMG I have never heard of this show but it is the funniest thing I've ever listened to, Everyone who rings in seems to be from the bible belt and don't drink the water because it's lowering the testosterone levels!
  19. What better thread to debut my hypnotic new avatar
  20. My gf pointed this one out to me, we were particularly amused by the description. Is it ever acceptable to use the phrase "Wow!! wow!! wow!!" other than when describing an emerging techno pop group from Lithuania? Is this sort of language usual for EA's or is it the precursor to "Please please please?"
  21. That one made me piss all over the sodding keyboard
