  1. So nothing ever changes. { Oliver Cromwell's Speech on the Dissolution of the Long Parliament, 20th April 1653.) "It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money. Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth? Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!"
  2. Mr King added: "I might be persuaded to print a little bit more money later in the year so that RBS can give Sir Fred Goodwin enough cash to finally buy his own volcano, but that is absolutely it."
  3. I'm pretty sure the planners are wrong. I got a planning permission in an "Area of outstanding natural beauty" by demolishing a load of old outbuildings and using the square footage to add an extension to the existing house. The poor old coalman has also been ripped off by his advisors if he actually paid that much in fees.
  4. I wonder how honest they will be. I want to see what happened to the girl who didn't know how to pronounce her own name who was levereged up to her eyeballs. I bet a few of these numpties refuse to appear on the show.

  6. https://www.thegalleria.co.uk/home.aspx This place opened in the teeth of the last recession and is still there, although it never achieved the upmarket clientle it originally hoped to attract.
  7. I agree with you. I use this forum primarily because it is funny. (And full of loopers).
  8. Kill them, kill them all. (To quote the monkeys). I am punctillious about my punctuation.
  9. RBS are currently paying for his security, but that won't be forever. Then we can get him.
  10. Oh, stop. Haven't you ever suffered from keyboard rage, fat fingers, long fingernails or drunken typing?
  11. My Karma ran over my dogma Leave DYIV alone - I like his posts.
  12. If China was sold a pup they would probably eat it for dinner.
  13. What happened to the thread on BTLers losing their portfolios? I think we should revive it.
  14. If he let go of her she would fall over; her boots have no heels.
  15. Not content with peeling the skin from my eyeballs with your avatar you have just posted that picture! Aargh!
  16. I agree. We should also stop the ridiculous non-dom tax farce. "If he likes it so much why doesn't he come and live here". Oh, wait a minute, he does.
  17. It was a partnership, so I could have left my much older and much richer partner liable for it, but I did what I thought was the right thing.
  18. Their level of incompetence is truly staggering. They called in an overdraft I had with them some years ago with one week's notice, in spite of a full order book and a viable business. This was just after they wrote off a whole load of African debt. I decided to pay off the overdraft and close the business, which left me with a shortfall of £3000. They insisted I take out a personal loan with them for this amount, charging me huge amounts of interest; half the monthly repayment was interest charges. When the loan was paid off, I closed the personal account which I had opened in order to make the loan payments, which had a balance of £12. Every year they send me a statement showing a balance of £12, I go to the local branch, take out £12 and close the account. This affords me great amusement. I might stop when I have recovered about half of the 40% interest they charged me for my loan.
