You absolutely nailed it. The labour market in the Eurozone is extremely rigid: at times like these, firms cannot let workers go even if they need to. Add to this the fact that economies within the Eurozone are far from being aligned in terms of inflation, unemployment rate and national debt to GDP ratio... I'm not sure about going back to 1.62 - but the Euro is massively overvealued at these levels, that's for sure.

Great find. Rubin cleared $30.6 million on his stock sales, while Prince got $26.5 million, former COO Robert Druskin got nearly $32 million and former Global Wealth Management unit chief Todd Thomson got $25.7 million, the suit said. Implicitly, this is what senior management at ALL the big firms involved in CDOs have been doing systematically, in order to buy time and sell their shares before the inevitable stock falls. It's good to see at least some of these people named and shamed.

Basically HSBC STR'd it 20 months ago and now they're buying it back. Not all banks are led by incompetents by the looks of it ... glad I opened an account with HSBC

Not if everyone else also starts printing money - and they will. -
I think you'll find that Gordon B would much rather join at parity than at 1.62 Euros. (not that I see this happening, mind)
