  1. You are right: people on this forum should get a grip and just go buy a house, at any price. It's all back to normal now, panic over. There isn't going to be a second C19 wave, either... ... since the first one never actually ended, at a global level.
  2. Which area is this? Would you be ok to post a link?
  3. Hey 4x, can you clarify the bit in bold? Are you saying that if an offer is made on that house, you expect a surveyor to value it at about 325 when the asking price is 600? I'd love to see that, but frankly I find it hard to believe. Am I misinterpreting your thoughts?
  4. Easy tiger, 4x is not an EA and his input is great, IMO.
  5. A short, sharp drop then? How sharp in % terms? And followed by what, new highs in nominal terms? I can't see that myself, not for some time after the crash, and certainly not in a matter of months.
  6. Who exactly do you expect will be jumping in en masse after the winter, Timbo? Where will all that dosh be coming from? And on another note, why is the black horse in your avatar not bleeding anymore like in the olden days?
  7. ^ this. As I've said before: if a HPC doesn't happen now, then I'll accept that it never will.
  8. Yep, the House Buying, Renting & Selling section over at MSE is a joy to behold these days. The hilarious thread linked by the OP is but one example. Check these out ... Asking for a Reduction on House Price Is now really a bad time to buy? And of course: Nationwide -1.7% MoM for May. Should I renegotiate? The local BTL-types are throwing a hissy fit, but deep down they know they're fighting a losing battle...
  9. Hyperinflation has always been overhyped on these boards.
  10. Most people will take a large hit. The 1% will skate, as usual...
  11. Welcome! Would you mind clarifying in what capacity you work in property? We could use a non-biased insider around here, and I suspect you have the potential to become a rahter popular poster - but it would be helpful to know which side of things you are involved in.
  12. Nah, I don't buy it. Way too many geopolitical unknowns over that sort of timeframe for anyone to make any credible forecast, sorry.
  13. While I never subscribed to the hyperinflation-is-coming and death-of-the-Dollar views many posters expressed after the GFC, I find it hard to imagine that rates would stay near zero "essentially forever". You know better than to make forecasts from here to eternity, Sceppy - perhaps you'd like to rephrase that statement, or clarify what sort of time horizon you have in mind?
  14. Completely agree. @Warlord: everything you keep repeating has been said a million times before (and much better, BTW) by the likes of Errol, Warpig, Goldfinger etc. Please post your gold stuff in the appropriate forum section. TA
  15. Yes, but the dam broke and they can't stop the flood. Check out the "House Buying, Renting & Selling" section and you'll find plenty of threads which start with a "what should I do" - type question, then quickly devolve into a general discussion on future house prices. That's when the fun starts. In fact, I'm pretty sure some of the more vocal bears on there are originally from here. And my message to them is: carry on the good work, whoever you are! ?
  16. For balance, take a look at other forums like MSE or mumsnet, and you'll see the that the reverse is also true. Plenty of new-ish posters with anecdotals of lower offers being accepted and generally doing their best to plant the seeds of doubts in places which are traditional BTL bastions. Of course the locals are screaming blue murder, just like your honorable self here. ? Do not pay heed to the desperate rampers, this worm has turned.
  17. Meanwhile, in the CRE world... Sellers are currently willing to concede discounts of around 5%, while bidders are hoping for about 20% off pre-pandemic prices, said Charles Hewlett, managing director at Rclco Real Estate Advisors. That estimated gap, which is likely wider in specific cases, has put a freeze on deals. "likely wider"... LOL ?
  18. Wow, another blast from the past - welcome back RB, my old friend. ? I've only dipped back in myself after a rather long hiatus. Sign o' the times, I guess... ?
  19. and CGNAO... Seriously though, I fully concur with KB's views, and it's great to see some of the old crew back on HPC. Time to dust off some of the old acronyms too: TEOTWAWKI, anyone?
