  1. Example of the triumph of hope over experience here http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-24698942.html If it doesn't go for £250K after 17 months, then up it to £285k. What still no sale after another 7 months? Up it by another £5K. House prices going to the moon....
  2. Ahh, that would explain the change of description. Damn my optimism. Still, I agree with your other post, I've seen plenty of houses ~£250K droppping 10% and we're still in the early days of this thing.
  3. Not sure if this is a mistake but it looks like this flat has been stung by the propertybee...
  4. This odd little development seems to have been an unwise investment for some poor sod: http://www.housescape.org.uk/cgi-bin/full....00026&& Looking on http://www.houseprices.co.uk/e.php?q=limehouse+cambridge I'd assume it was the most expensive of the ones listed (as it's the penthouse). Someones lost a lot of cash on this....
  5. Well it seems to me, that in the media, the debate is over. Everyday there are more and more stories on the negative impacts of BTL ranging from the plight of FTBs to questioning the financial savvy of new BTL landlords. This is a clear "STAY AWAY from BTL as an investment" piece. 18 minutes and 22 seconds in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/fivelive_ao...live/wakeup_mon If I was thinking about getting into BTL before listening to this I'd soon think again afterwards.
  6. This from Faithless - 'Bring my family back' I'm on Lonely Street, number fifty three. Boarded up property, I'll probably get pulled down. Litter all around inside there's no sound and no light. But yo it gets busy at night, People creeping. Derelicts sneaking to fix. Speaking. On the way my timbers creaking, Roof leaking. And bricks coming loose, knee high in refuse. But even though I'm a slum, I'm still of some use. There was a time when my walls where decorated. And under my roof children where educated. But now paint's faded, windows are all smashed, a crash in the economy robbed me of my family. And no strategy, combats negative equity, so that's it. Like violence it's drastic. I'm freaking, and seeking to be more than just a house for crack. Somebody bring my family back.
  7. I wonder what the impact will be on Barclays' mortgage lending if this goes ahead. Especially since ABN Amro are property bears. Sunday times - "Housing-market bears think there are all the ingredients for a sharp fall in prices. ABN Amro, the investment bank, has said that property in Britain is overvalued by 50% and prices have become “detached from fundamentals”." I foresee credit tightening.
  8. I believe they were referring to an article in the telegraph. Fear and Greed Index
  9. Apologies, t'was a duplicate post. Funny though, 73 viewings of a post titled ignore. Curiusity I suppose.
  10. ... and the BBC say... **** Inflation steady at factory gate UK factory gate inflation held steady last month, despite manufacturers facing lower than expected costs as oil and gas prices fell slightly. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said output prices rose 0.3% last month, keeping the annual rate at 2.9%. Analysts had expected the Producer Prices Index figure to dip to 2.8%. Meanwhile, core output prices - which exclude food, drink, tobacco and fuel products - rose 0.2% as expected, taking the annual rate up to 1.8%. Input prices were unchanged at 15% in February, as energy prices slipped slightly. It marked the first occasion in almost six months that manufacturer costs had failed to rise. ***** Who's telling the truth?
  11. Well, there's one place where you can really gauge what's happening in the market... Give 'em Karma
  12. The Panoramic is where they bought the 2 flats. LINK Flat 49 seems to have fallen a little
  13. Thanks for that. Much better than this mornings 4 minute attempt on the same subject. What really annoys me is this 'Affordable Housing' label which seems to be a synonym for Cruddy sh!t box. I don't want 'affordable housing'. I'd like conventional housing (i.e. with solid brick walls) at an affordable price. I think there is a difference.
  14. First Rule of Property - Do not talk about prices falling. Second rule of property - DO NOT talk about prices falling! edited for typo
