1. It's funny. but any manufactured post from The Daily Hate about single mums/dole scroungers/feckless youths/your-own-personal-minority-hate and it gets posted religiously on these boards. Yet whenever the real story gets even a passing mention in the press, it bareley causes a ripple on these boards. shhhh I will say it quietly as not to spook the sheep...man who has paid no tax in this country for 10 years is a lord, sits in the second house and gets to have an effect on legislation that effects the life of you and me. Or what about the "businessman" Philip Green that is the personification of greed, who after getting 900Million in a dividend pay out, chooses to pay it to his wife and thus escapes the CG of 300 million pounds, so he trousers 1.2 billion. His reward ? why he is made a special advisor to the tories.

Looks like the propoganda of the right wing press have done the job on at least 90% of the posters on these threads I reckon.

Still, nothing to see here, move along, keep bashing johnny foreigner, immigrants, public sector workers etc there's a good fellow ...

I`ll think you find `some` of us share Nicky Soames view of Mr Green.....

  2. Hmmm, I'm not so sure, there are people in my local paper every week getting nicked for claiming jsa while having savings above the limit. Perhaps they are bubbled up but I was imagining the DWP had access to bank details.

It's increasingly looking like the best thing to do with my STR fund is to sod off to Thailand and use it to see the rest of my life out spending it on cocaine and ladyboys. ;)

.. perhaps our resident correspondents could confirm that doshed up Brits with bars and new wives are `still` having sudden unexpected fatal heart attacks on a `surprisingly` regular basis........

  3. Assets? They are a building maintenance company so they might have a few wheelbarrows and cement mixers

Bigger plant, site cabins and scaffolding would have been on hire - suppliers will have been shafted.

Maybe they own a few fax machines and a photocopier at their offices.

The office will be leased from a property company which coincidentally has the same directors listed at Companys House.

This in turn will be mortgaged to the bank.

    There will be nothing left.

actually I think the real reason they are really 220 million in the hole is due to the contract they have with Coke for their vending machines....

  4. They agreed not to drop it any further and then exchanged a cheerfull "Cheerio". The door closed and a "ting" came from the bell that used to punctuate the EA's day. He sighed heavily and closed his eyes for a moment remembering the good times. Then he walked back , past his desk and into the small kitchen at the back of the shop. All the other staff had left for the day, he was dreading having to let some of them go, but somehow that didn't really matter now. He climbed up onto the chair and slipped the loop around his neck.......

.. and he was as good at auto-erotic asphyxiation as he was as sellling houses, never could get the timing right.....

  5. Get in with the right PR company.

Since doing much of our PR with the "right people" (subjective) our company has been invited on BBC Scotland, Wales, and asked to comment on features with various regional BBC radio stations.

    ie, pay them..

by the by, did anyone else think that Kate Silvertons live reading out of todays headline in the Metro `Double Dip Fears...` was a mistake by the speed she did it after she realised what she was saying...

I sense an editorial meeting later today.....

  6. A friend of parents is getting repossessed this weekend. They bought the house for around £80k in the 90s. MEWed to high heaven and mortgage is now £210k!! Can't keep up the payments so about 6 months in arrears before he gave up and stopped paying. The bank has finally go the hump and said you have 1 month to sell so they put on the Market. He needs £210k to cover the mortgage then another £10k to cover fees and on top he says he wants at least £10k out of it!! (on top of the £120k he's already had and wasted!) so puts it up for £240k. £210k maybe £220k would be more appropriate IMO. Anyway now viewings, no offers and no interest and the months up so he's out. The thing is now he knows he'll be left with debt after the sale as it will probably go cheap so he is going bankrupt getting his debts written off and renting for £1100pcm up the month!

This should not be allowed I'm IMO he should be forced to pay at least some back as he has a good income it. I can't afford to rent for 1100pcm!

    ....... errr actually...........

  7. Well theres one who's keys will be being posted back to the bank (uk taxpayer) if they dont sell it

    :)

interesting thing about `Moor Park` those else where might not know is that it is a gated estate with car number plate recognition cameras that display your number on a display when you enter or leave...

however, the underground station, a supposedly public place is within-in this area, so when ever you visit this public place by car, the good people (actually some very very bad people, but thats another story ;) ) of Moor Park will know about it

nice people live in Loudwater, Arabs and Americans live in Moor Park, was ever thus.................

  8. A friend of mine is paying that. This rent and loans are crippling him and they have already threatened to send round the baliffs. He has a lot of equity in this business so I bailed him out the day before he was going to be shut down. Once the remaining loans are cleared (2 more years), the profits will be good enough to pay the rent and the owners wages.

Another friend in business banking visits these sorts of companies all the time. He says most of the owners cant afford to even pay themselves minimum wage, and that's not for tax avoidance via dividends, they just can pay the bills and themselves at the same time. This is even for business with £1m turnover!!

The sort of people that start these business are exactly the sort to just sit at home and say f@ck the lot of you and claim benefits but financially, that is their only option under the current system.

.. and thus the country dies because the productive people in society just can`t be arsed anymore

  9. Was out & about to day, while a lot have gone many remain..............spendfasty hanging on to their ex-lease hire BMW. Oh how i pray for peek oil!!!!

I think the real result will arrive when "Normal" market forces make Merv put rates back up to 4 then 6 then7 then 8....then 12 %. 20% vat kicks in as does LOTS of inflation & may be some peek oil.....................can't wait! ;)

    mike

    edited for you...

  10. Do you know though, I'm not sure that's true. It ought to be true - and for anyone with a bit of business savvy and life experience - the terms of a lease will put them off unless they are pretty damn certain they are going to make a go of whatever business they are in. (Someone opening their second hairdressers having made a success of their first etc.)

No, there seems to be an endless line of people who, through hope or desperation, want to open their own shop. Women are the classic example ... how many women dream of opening a dress shop. I have taken an interest in this area for years - whenever a new shop opens in my local towns, I find myself wondering how much the rent is, how long they've signed up for, how much turnover they'll need to pay the rent and rates etc.

In the boom years of 2005/6/7 small (new) units in my local high street (1000 sq ft I guess) were up for 50k a year! Generally they are ground floor units under new blocks of flats. My local high street has been semi rebuilt in the last 10 years with 2 bed flats over shops going for between 225k and 300k and the shops beneath commanding astronomical rents. A couple of them were taken by people selling art - limited edition prints etc. Are they nuts? Simple? How many do you need to sell to pay the rent of a grand a week? Too many it seems, because they have disappeared. Another one was a tile shop. A small retail unit selling nothing but tiles in a secondary position with very limited parking. Another was the ubiquitous estate agent. They moved in in 2006 and out in 2007 to be replaced by a charity shop. I can only assume they let charity shops have the premises on short lets - just to keep something coming in.

... laundering hubbies drug money, tanning salons anyone..... `do the math` ;)

  11. You are distorting the argument, again, by saying "some bloke".

My main concern is with the BBC. It had a clear policy of "talking up the economy". That is against their remit, of telling the truth. Even if they think (wrongly) that it was in the "national interest". Who do they think they are? We didn't vote for that editorial line. The BBC doesn't even accept the Freedom of Information Act! It is scandalous.

Of course I didn't fall for it, as most in this forum, but the general population trusted the BBC, and were fecked. And the country went down the whole with it. BTW, you ain't seen nothing yet. The crisis didn't even start yet!

    ..hasn`t..... started...??

  12. Is it HUTH where they have that funky music when they bring on the EAs like they're meant to be really cool? I think they should play some more appropriate music and as star wars has been mentioned perhaps it should be Darth Vader's imperial march

.. always always less than 30 seconds - no royalties to pay - clever eh!
