  1. The essential point is - this whole "Self-Cert" phenomenon is THE KEY to the absolutely ABSURD and UNSUSTAINABLE price of property. It is THE BIGGEST RACKET of ALL TIME.

House "prices" would not be ANYTHING like as high as they are now had it not been for "Self-Cert" mortgages. In the space of 10-12 years - they went from a tiny proportion of all mortgages to the PREDOMINANT proportion. Correspondingly, house prices, unlike REAL, NON-LIAR INCOMES, went up 300-400%....

AND -- It is VITAL to understand this: When Person A, having obtained a "Self-Cert" LIAR LOAN, went to Street, Village, Town X, and "bought" a property in said Street, Village, Town X, he/she OVERNIGHT TURBO-CHARGED the "price" of property in that Street, Village, Town X. SO THAT - any person B, C, D, E [etc.] who wanted to buy a property in that Street, Village or Town X, HAD TO FIND THE "MONEY" to MATCH the "price equivalent" Person A had paid in that locality.

i.e. LIAR LOANS GROSSLY and FRAUDULENTLY INFLATED ALL LOCAL and, very soon, NATIONAL HOUSE PRICES - because house "prices" are DETERMINED by COMPARISON PRICING by the local estate agents/surveyors.

SO IT ONLY TOOK A FEW PEOPLE UISNG LIAR LOANS USED IN ANY LOCALITY TO ARTIFICIALLY & FRAUDULENTLY RAISE ALL LOCAL HOUSE "PRICES".

THUS - PEOPLE WHO FOLLOWED AFTERWARDS IN THAT LOCALITY EITHER HAD TO TAKE OUT A LIAR LOAN TO MATCH THESE PRICES - OR - AS IS THE CASE TODAY - HAD/HAVE TO RESORT TO STUPID MULTIPLES MORTGAGES TO "AFFORD" CURRENT HOUSE "PRICES".

That is where we are today........... i.e. Prices have been artificially and fraudulently hiked as a result of this whole "Self-Cert" LIAR LOAN phenomenon. You now have to take out ridiculous 6, 7, 8, 9, 10+ x your REAL income to "afford" a roof over your head.

    GO FIGURE.

THE ABOVE SHOULD BE PRINTED OUT AS A POSTER WHICH SHOULD BE FLY POSTED ON EVERY ESTATE AGENTS WINDOW

    IN THE COUNTRY

All done on the same day would have an effect

  2. ..... has been much predicted for many years (by me) but for some reason never actually happened, the death of sky

ie, why do people pay £47.00 a month to watch the one game a month involving their team, when they could watch this game down the pub for the price of a pint,

perhaps next year when the masses have to choose between food and their sky subs, sky will die and all who sail in her

  3. Has this turned into the Hyacinth Bucket forum?

I have time off work every few years (through choice) and when I decide to start looking for jobs again I am straight down the job centre to claim contributions-based JSA for 6 months.

As I am actively looking for work (and can evidence it) the fortnightly sit down is a formality as as are the initial and 3 month interviews (never had a 6 month one).

For over £80 a week of free moeny (which I see as a tax rebate) why wouldn't you?

    Two things:

    i) Don't wear a suit

ii) If you're in a profession then don't expect them to find you a job

    and...

don`t ........ look at, sit near or for god`s even `think of` using the phones !!!!!!!

  4. and I cannot ever envisage the need to exact revenge.

go into any and I mean any Tesco in the UK and you will find without fail the price of the small bottles 150ml of shampoo under the larger 300ml bottles of shampoo

also check out the large price point of sales on the fruit, they apply to the item ABOVE them, not the (more expensive) items that are below but you think it applys to

  5. Born 66 Thatchers Youth but time has moved on. The Labour party has had over a decade to change the status quo but chose not to.

Up until Blair this country lurched from the left to the right and somehow it kept this country away from catastrophe.

Blair embedded Thatcherism when he was supposed to repeal it back to a middle ground.

I Blame all those Labour voters and politicians. When they had the chance to repeal all of Thatchers laws they so hated and oposed when in oposition they flunked it.

    Vote Nu-Labour get Thatcherism.

    ...... er

  6. In the tech boom, they were the darlings who bought up nice properties and whole channel islands. Look up Peter Ogden for example. Now it is the turn of the bankers and property kings who cashed out, see Foxtons founder.

I wonder who the next set of people will benefit?

    Agriculture ? [Jim Rogers prediction]

    Mining? Gold/Silver miners?

    Oil and Gas?

    Green energy?

    or perhaps flat pack coffins

the guy that can do a funeral for £400 instead of £4000, is going to make to a lot of money.........

  7. Today's headlines are not going to be good reading for bears.

Guardian: New Hope that UK pulling our of recession

The Times: Britain on the cusp of economic fightback

The Telegraph: House prices forecast to end year on a high

FT: Boost for Lloyds as bad debts hit peak

Daily Star: Jordan Names the Day (Actual day for the end of recession I believe, but I could be wrong)

Fortitude is required in the face of this kind of onslaught.

Now, I'm not saying the Express is wrong but would I be at all uncharitable to suggest that their headlines have a certain rabid je ne sais quoi?

Here are (as many as I could find) of their headlines Dating from yesterday back to Saturday 4th July.

omega 3 is the secret of long life (yesterday)

jacko's golden goodbye (he'll be buried like tutankhamun) Sat 4 July

(these are all genuine I promise you.)

See if you can spot the, shall we say, frenzied leitmotifs?

many, `many` years ago on newsnight `Paxo` at the end of the program would read out the front pages of tommorrows papers, usual dull stuff in the broadsheets till he came to his last paper The Sun.. and without a blink said its headline

`RANDY VIP IN BID TO BED MRS T`

    .. still makes me smile
