  1. makes interesting reading - 12 properties sold in SN1 in September - no wonder the EA were calling me almost every day!! although av prices are not falling that much :-(
  2. Honda employ 5000 people with maybe 4000 living in and around Swindon plus all the associated companies that supply and rely on Honda - I am hearing scary things about them going down to one shift, forced days off and limited shift allowance and overtime on the news?!?! does anyone else think how hard this will hit the Swindon economy with staff cautious about spending because they are worried about losing their job?! any views?
  3. You gave all the reasons above ;-) the ones on the right hand side as you go down towards the school have garages at the back in the garden (rear access road) some double garages. the road is quite quiet (apart from 8.30am and 3.30pm school!) as it is blocked at the far end - so realisticly residents only.
  4. On another note - any seen these new properties come onto the market from Miller up at Okus in old town: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-235...p;mam_disp=true I cant belive how expensive these are for the area and style of house - I would be very surprised if these get much interest!!!
  5. I have been monitoring SN1 and agree not much moving and not much reductions. I noticed one terraced property opposite town gardens in Old Town had gone down from 220,000 to 197,000 but that looks like the biggest fall in that particular area. I am still holding out for further reductions around Avenue Road (old town) for a nice 3 bedroom terraced with garage - although as this is quite a popular area prices are falling very slowly!! what are other peoples experiences?
  6. Its all gone quiet around Swindon!! Anyone got any new on the market - I keep checking property bee each day but not much movement at the moment - also not many properties on the market! I am looking around avenue road, Old town area? have a good one
  7. they say they wont gp below 180,000 for this particular property!!!
  8. I am looking for houses in the same area (old town, lawn, lakeside etc) and not seen much move in the last couple of months. But also not seen much price moves except for the tatty looking places. What are peoples impressions of the new housing estate on the old trading estate in Okus - I have looked around a couple of houses - one from George Wimpey and one from Miller and like them both. But they are both quite expensive - 229,000 and 199,000 respectively. (town houses both with garages.) I put an offer on the Miller one at 145,000 because that what I thought it was worth - it was rejected as you can imagine! http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-226...se&tr_t=buy http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-225...se&tr_t=buy the George wimpey has actually increase in price this week!!!!! My ideal road is Avenue Road on the West side with the longer gardens and garage at back - but prices are not moving at all! http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-183...se&tr_t=buy what are peoples opinions?? thanks
  9. Sorry here is the correct link: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-183...=1&tr_t=buy
  10. I am keen on this house - its a good area and close to a good school and some good bars and cafes- http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetai...a_n=1&tr_t=buy As it is its above my budget of 180,000 but with whats happening with the market and current credit crunch is it worth holding out the dream? any advice would be greatly received many thanks
  11. I read on the developers website they have a 100 year insurance against flooding which put me off straight away! Obviously there is an underlying problem - not sure what insurance companies will do about this?? "For some reason the big Victorian houses in areas such as that seem to be ridiculously overpriced. Some don't even have garages or off road parking. With gas prices ever rising it makes me wonder how energy efficient these houses are. What makes them attractive now eg. their high ceilings and 'original sash' windows, might lead to a reduction in prices soon." http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-185...=1&tr_t=buy http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-185...=3&tr_t=buy a couple of samples above - seem very overpriced comparred to other properties - I know a good school at the end of the road helps keep prices high!
  12. What do people think of the prices of the terrace houses in Avenue road, old town? I like the area but think even if house price fall or not they are well over priced. Anyone have any guesses of what the houses will be going for early next year? I am renting at the moment and watching the houseing situation with a deposit ready to make an offer - but how long to wait and if I make an offer how much below the asking price? cheers
