  1. Serious question - Why are we paying for it?

How much are Coca Cola and MacDonalds etc. paying in sponsorship?

Given how they can dictate what food can be eaten on the the various sites, you'd think they owned the feckers.

It's just a bunch of people running around in circles and giving themselves medals.

A bunch of drug cheats whoring themselves for a share of the corporate dollar.

Truly, the spirit of the Olympiad!

  2. I'd certainly let the EA know you know - he/she can pass it on.

Silly question alert but when making an offer for a house, when and to whom is it made?

Can you make an offer to the owner straight after viewing, or is it usual to go away, have a think and then contact the EA?

  3. Wrt to parkhill, half of the first lot have sold (the majority to a housing association!)

Without wishing to be too down on social housing tenants (I am one myself) but maybe it's because I'm a social tenant I can see the potential pitfalls. I wouldn't want to have forked out £90,000 to be surrounded by some of the people I've encountered in social housing over the years.

  4. A horror story from the Wicker Riverside apartments in the DM. Child falls 60ft to her death through a missing glass barrier in a communal balcony. It was broken by vandals and not fixed by the owners. I just don't think flats are good places for kids

I missed that one. As you say, a horror story.

My dad always used to say that they shouldn't have moved families to the likes of Hyde Park. It's not a place I'd have liked to grow up in.

I grew up at Herdings, S14 and we had the local park to play in, streets largely devoid of cars and lots of woods to roam in until teatime.

(We even used to wear shorts as well, no ginger beer or cold ham though.)

We used to live in one of the tower blocks at Herdings until I was about 2. My mum and dad did a house exchange because they did't want to bring up a growing child there.
