I was born and raised in Walthamstow, only moved away a few years ago. Still go back every week to see my dad, and I must admit I lock my car doors when I hit Forest Road now!!

Hello Everyone I've been watching this site for the past few years, basically since I returned to the UK after working in Australia and realised I didn't have a hope in hell of ever getting on the property ladder! Glad to say this site gave me a ray of hope and stopped me from rushing down the path of shared ownership, so heartfelt thanks!! This site has helped me understand so much, although I have to say some of the postings have also give me sleepless nights.... my idea of going back to basics is limited to not using my hair straigteners for 24 hours!! I've always wondered why everyone else has such a wonderful standard of living, sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in Essex who doesn't drive a new 4x4, but you guys have made me realise that it's because I only spend what I earn. I'm currently renting a semi in a nice suburb with my partner. The LL is planning to sell the property next year to pay for nursing home fees. We were hoping to save enough to buy it, but we've been persuaded by you all to hold tight and see how the market is next year before we make any decisions. Luckily we both have fairly stable jobs, I'm a nurse so can't see unemployment being an issue!
