Is that 6% higher than previous high or 6% higher than previous close?
  5. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/feb/01/labour-plans-landowners-sell-state-fraction-value The actual building cost of a council flat of 700 square feet should be about £40,000. I just can't figure out why it's so expensive here, even when the price of the land is reduced. Can anyone shed any light on these figures and if they make sense?

    Interest Rates

In the areas of the North where I'm looking I've seen a much bigger divergence between posh and not. Some areas down 30% since 2008 getting close to fair value - but others not so far away up almost 30% into total insanity.

This feels a lot more to me like it's going to be a traditional 1991 type recession - but bigger by many times - than a 2008 financial crash type. So much deja vu.
  8. Hope so!! Do you still think gold will go up a bit and then fall?
  9. Won't the Fed just stop tightening like the last time the markets had a hissy fit?

    Australia Faces Its Demons

    Deleted - not really relevant
  11. From the article: First if all, I think there must be a mistake in the last figure (the one for Tamworth). But that aside, it still looks like they're looking at paying a pretty hefty price for the land. The construction price of a 2 bed council flat can't be more than £80k. So if the total price per flat in Chelmsford would be £130k that would mean a minimum of £50k for the land - and at a density of say 20 flats per acre that would be a £1 million per acre - a far cry from the £8k per acre (£20k per hectare) suggested in the article.
  12. I saw Shelter were campaigning for this policy but I thought it would be too radical for the Labour party.

    Nationwide Jan 2018

Ian King on Sky reported that the 3.2% growth was "better than expected" - before launching into a segment on how equity release boosts the economy.
  14. As far as I recall, when I was buying coins from Silver to Go the price seemed to be live and was changing a tiny bit all the time.
  15. I was struck about how vociferously Ian King on Sky has been defending Capita throughout the day and stressing how different it is to Cariilion. He seemed to me to be utterly lacking in objectivity for a business reporter.
