  1. I work shifts and noise is my pet hate. Sleep deprivation is no joke. All the "dog lovers" round here leave their dogs alone all day (barking..) whilst they go to work - then they take them out when they get home to sh1t on the pavement. My life changed when I started to use those soft earplugs you pinch then stuff in your ears. The only problem I have with sleeping now is hearing my alarm clock.
  2. How old are you? What are your professions? What multiples of your income are you trying to borrow?
  3. It's reported that the cause of the fire and the fast spread are mysterious. I wonder if the two industrial sewing machine frames clearly visible in the photos offer a clue?
  4. When does Harassment Become an Offence? According to Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, an individual commits an offence if, with the object of coercing another person to pay money claimed from the other as a debt due under contract, he or she: Harasses the other with demands for payment which by their frequency, or the manner or occasion of their making, or any accompanying threat or publicity are calculated to subject him or his family or household to alarm, distress or humiliation.
  5. My wish list: Christmas lights and the whole orgy of Christmas spending. Ring tones and mobile phone downloads. Fruit in easy reach hanging unpicked. There's an apple tree opposite where I live on common ground. Other than myself I have never seen a soul pick an apple. Things can't be that bad yet...
  6. Anyone who enjoys a "time capsule" should consider a trip to Broseley clay pipe works near the Ironbridge Gorge. http://www.ironbridge.org.uk/images/our_at...%20Interior.jpg I think the shop in the story is staged. I would like to get my hands on some original Victory Vs though. They changed the recipe in the early eighties and ruined them. Probably something to do with health and safety.
  7. Desperate? Never. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-193...19&tr_t=buy

  9. If the amount is over £15,000 can't they use utilise little known government legislation to permanently remove these debts?
  10. SOLD - or STC? I don't share your faith, but good luck with whatever you do. I hope to trade up too eventually - but I'm just going to wait. It's those that are trading down that need to worry/hurry.

One at Amerton (Staffs A518) was doing a roaring trade until two years ago. Been abandoned since and now becoming derelict.
  12. Oddly enough I tried to make a post on population control some time ago, but wasn't able to start a topic. (Possibly the content, possibly because I'm a newbie). Anyway, I'll tack it on the end here. I have already practiced what I preach and, Just to be clear, I don't want to destroy the human race - just stabilise it at a sustainable level. Population control (or rather the lack of population control) is at the heart of all the major problems today: House prices (finite availability), food prices (finite availability) and energy (finite oil availability). Ever increasing population will inevitably lead to famine, misery and conflict. The only solution I can see is a two children per couple limit. Of course this will never happen. There are those who think their genes should take precedence over all others, and there are those who are too ignorant (through lack of education or intelligence) to understand why they should play their part in this solution. As a result we are doomed to a world crowded with the selfish and the ignorant, constantly struggling for diminishing resources. Of course nature (or God if that's your thing) will probably deal with our stupidity with a pandemic or major natural disaster. At least then house prices will come down.
  13. Storm clouds gather over new build flats - really, look: http://www.homes24.co.uk/doc.html?_a=view&id=366900 I go past these regularly. I saw them go up and week by week I've seen the increasingly desperate marketing banners draped across the front: "Now accepting reservations". "Last few remaining". "Ask about our special incentives". "Ideal buy-to-let opportunity". The latest says "only 4 remaining". I'm not sure if that includes flat 3. It has an auction notice posted outside!
  14. err - I think £225K only buys 75%. You don't have to pay rent or interest on the remaining 25% for 5 years. Seems such a crap deal that I may well be wrong. 75% OWNERSHIP SCHEME FOR 5 YEARS WITH NO RENT OR INTERST TO PAY*
  15. The third option is that they could lower their offer for the new house in the same ratio - which is actually only 7.8%.
