  1. Congartulation sot Mike Keen for holding out and not dropping his price for over 5years! I had the opportunity to drive by and see it for myself last week, really words cannot describe the setting, visible over the car parks of the retail estates around it for quite some distance. Ther is a shipping container and then a timber yard dfirectly in front of it, the cement works and scrappies behing it, the Premier Inn and car dealers across the road. Someone had better rush an but it before the rest of the render falls off!

  3. Congratulations to Mike Keen on the 4th anniversary of his Rightmove listing! 4 years now without any drop in price, I'm sure the right buyer will be along any day now. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-18837195.html The highest price any other property has sold for in this postcode is still only £55,000 though.
  4. Only 5 miles from our old favourite Tindale Towers. Wonder when we'll finally see some price movement on THAT one.
  5. Mike insisted: “We still love the place dearly but we need the money “The truth is that there is nobody with the money out there. We need a footballer or a rock star to come along. “And, it will have to be a Premiership player,” he said. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/news/north-east-news/2012/06/10/3-6million-bishop-auckland-mansion-still-for-sale-79310-31149015/
  6. Stick your savings in a SIPP or other pension and they don't count as savings for benefits though ( and they'll even add another 20% to it for you). Obviously you can't then touch it until retirement age.
  7. Came across this: Posted by the Estate Agent to YouTube 7 December 2011. I guess the Estate agent got a kick up the **** from Mr Keen as to why 'is property 'adnt sold, and this was the response. Notice that it's not actually new images, just a video version of the brochure. Probably haven't had another day with sunny skies since the last lot were taken (this IS the North East)! Or else the Council have already started work on the new bus depot and industrial estate across the road and they have even less of "views to the countryside in the distance" than before (you'd have thought they could at least have edited the panning countryside shot to start AFTER the Enterprise Rental Car sign). Still no change to the asking price though. I guess it is an innovative marketing move, I'm sure there are lots of multimillionaires searching for random YouTube videos of "iconic buildings". Do we have any talented individuals that could come up with a revised video using some of the "alternative" images from this thread, or even a Google Earth driveby?
  8. "Only properties priced at £5m-plus are holding their value, says the firm." Looks like our old friend Tindale Towers should have advertised at a HIGHER price. I notice he still hasn't dropped his price, Pure Comedy Gold.
  9. Property is currently not on the market "Clyde Property, Helensburgh have removed this property. It may now be sold, under offer or temporarily withdrawn from the market." If I had to guess, I'd guess it hasn't sold and is not under offer!
  10. IT'S TOO WINDAE; Gales blow in huge panes on TV home. Looks like the windows blew in during gales a few years back as well. (Plus more on the leaky floor heating). Not such a "GRAND" design then................................
  11. Speaking of drilled holes........... If you had seen this Grand Designs episode, the concrete floor (with the embedded underfloor heating pipes cast in) had to be chiselled off (builder had pured it too thick, which meant the roof would have been too high for the planning permission (I guess a house further up the hill was not to have its view obstructed)), and they showed the resulting multiple leaks in the heating pipes being repaired with compression joints (inviting trouble, they should have made the builder grind it all the way back and laid new pipe as a continuous run). This is definitely a house to run a mile from.
  12. There was a perfectly legal way for her to do what she tried to (save from her benefits and make provision for old age). If she'd bunged it in a SIPP pension plan she'd have had notional tax relief added (the government would have added another 25% to hercontributions) , and it would not have affected her entitlement to benefits. Once she'd reached retirement age, she could have drawn 25% out as cash in one go, and then drawn down the rest in line with retirement rules.
  13. Harridan answers back Go #davethebeardyscientist !!!!!
  14. Iron or earthenware vases? BBC link Archaelogists speak just like Estate Agents too "The possibility that we have a genuine Iron Age broch interior, untrammelled by later modification of admixture, is very exciting indeed."
  15. Does this road in the North East count as millonaires road then? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3613368/Mansion-on-market-for-365m-sits-between-huge-gasometer-scrapyard-and-Homebase.html I notice they still haven't dropped their price, hope springs eternal etc. http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=163906&st=60
