  1. Thanks for all the info. Oh by the way I'm coming ,my mother , my brother , my sisters, my cousins ,well all in all around 100 people will be moving around this area......ha ha ha ha
  2. Thankyou so so much for that info about Calne . We are definitaly going to have a look around , I noticed some reductions near ST DUNSTON (not sure how it spelled) estate . We origanilly come from Basingstoke near Reading and we want to avoid similar areas .We are looking for a nice quiet area with a good value for money housing not too far from B'stoke , low crime rate very important too. Do you know any areas which to avoid ? It seems to me that Calne might be a good option for us, shall let you know in 3 weeks time . Thanks again for your reply.
  3. Hello 'pikestones'. Do you have more info or link perhaps ? Thanks for your time.
  4. Living in Malta is....ok, I couldn' t live here permanantly. We have been here 4 years and we have had enough now . I find it too small , potholes everywhere , and very dusty. As the development you mentioned it was still going on till last November . Alot of old houses have been knocked down and lots of flats have been built instead. There's hardly no fields left especially in the southern part of the island. Yes there was a housing boom here as well and as i 've just said lots of blocks of flats everywhere and most of them are empty. The credit crunch is just hitting here. Amazingstoke , yes youre right it will suffer as well , I remember last recession you could get a 4 bed det for around 100k or even less if you had cash. Hope I haven't put anyone off visiting Malts . For a holiday its quiet nice not very cheap anymore cause since they joined t he euro its becoming more expensive by the day. House prices in cornwall are quiet expensive , really shocking actually considering their average wage is so low.
  5. I have been living in Malta for these last 5 years and last time i visited B'STOKE they were doing up the town centre. I dont think wimpy is there anymore .They have got a very modern type shopping centre with quiet a few good coffee shops and restaurants. Well thats what my sister in law said cause i havent been since they finished the work, it took them around 2 years .
  6. I love this forum. Always cheers me up. I come from Basingstoke just down the road from Bracknell and i know exactly what you mean. oh sorry its now known Amazingstoke !!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMM
  7. Well I shall be having a look around Chippenham in March ,from what I heard its not a bad place to live .I suppose its a new estate , and houses are built quiet near each other .However having 2 young children and being at home most of the day on my own I'd rather have people close by. Also I suppose its a matter of opinion. Anyone knows what Calne is like?

  9. Thanks 'qazwas1' .Anyone from the area that might know which estate this might be? Thanks again.
  10. Do you know which estate your mate lives in ? Please please more info ... Thanks
  11. Yes ' Dr Renter' I agree you must have a limit. Hence why im quiet prepared to look further out of Bath we dont want to use all our savings on a house .As long as the area is safe to bring up children , within 30 minutes of bath then we're happy. We dont want to end up in Bath but then live in areally tiny house with 2 kids. Must go on property bee now thanks for the info.
  12. Thanks 'Bockaarck' for your reply ,really helpfull. Im gonna forget about peasedown and keep digging more info around Trow Frome Bradford etc . Any one with more information in these areas , as where to aviod its really appreciated. We will be back home next month so we will be spending alot of time looking around and get a generall feel of the area. Thanks ......
  13. Thanks to all your replies . Well were moving back home (uk) end of Feb we dont want to be too far from Basingstoke as most of our family is there . we have got 2 children one of 5 years and 6 month old both girls. So anywhere we move has got to be child friendly , i know there is crime everywhere but some places more than others . My other half will be working either in Bath or Trow ,our budget will be around 200k but we are renting first . I would like to buy 4 bed detatched eventually and hopefully our dream will come true. We sold our property in Malta last september and we also have saving very hard . At the moment things here (malta) are not so bad but its going to hit here very soon . Areas that i was looking at are Trow Hilperton Holt Frome Warminster Corsham . Chippenham and Bradford are top of my list i just think they might be still expensive , but hey hopefully when they become half price ha ha ha in my dreams . Anyway thanks alot for all the info really really appreciated.
  14. Love to live in, or around Bath but its just too expensive for my family . I look frequently on rightmove and there seems to be a few reductions in Peasedown . I might be able to afford there if reductions do continue . Any one knows what the area is like? Maybe there is other good areas close by any info about these areas is greatly appreciated . Im also looking into Trowbridge and surrounding area as the prices there seem alot cheaper and its not too far away from BATH. I know you cant compare Trow to Bath but we will be quiet happy to at least have beutiful Bath close by. Thanks again .
  15. I I lived in Basingstoke for 13 years. Bought my first house in my early 20's , a 2 bed semi in mathias walk brighton hill 5 min walk from the portsmouth arms . Is it still there? I bought that house for £52,000 not sure what the area is like now but 13 years ago it was a good area. I remember detatched properties up the road in Hatchwarren were going for around £120,000. I don't think Basingstoke will be immune from a crash alot of my friends still live around the area and most of them commute to London so if London is feeling the pinch so will Basingstoke.
