  • About Me
    The current economic situation.
  1. I liked the section about pensions a bit further down. I'm glad I have a government pension. It's a First Division pension so I doubt that will be seriously eroded before I've popped my clogs.
  2. I have his list downloaded to my gmail. Interesting stuff although obviously mainly related to Ireland However, we are one of Ireland's major trading partners so things here have a big bearing on them.
  3. I was in a similar situation in 1955. I was just married and I wanted to by a newbuild 3 bedroom semi in Langley at £2700. My father, a S.E.O, civil servant had just retired with final salary pension and a lump sum. He offered to lend me 1000 interest free. The rest I got at 2% from Slough Council. I went for it. I paid it back in 100 instalments. As my family grew I found things a bit tight and after I'd paid 3 or 4 instalments he let me off the rest. If I were you I'd go for it. After all, if you do fall on hard times he's not going to kick you out, is he.
  4. I need new glasses. I read it as House price inflation.
  5. Get yourself a postal vote. You can s**t on that. On second thoughts that's probably against Post Office regulations so you can send a photo instead.
  6. When I was a boy there used to be something called Schedule A income tax. Why not bring that back?

  8. There might be a connection with school catchment area.

There is an analogy in engineering when materials form cross-linkages and become brittle.
