  1. Thanks. There's so much more I could do with this, TBH, it's more about what I leave out than put in. Installs go up and down. I think people found it annoying when it used to make the page 'jump' around a lot as it loaded. It's now faster, and adds all the notes at once, so is hopefully less annoying. It gave me an opportunity to flex my DB optimisation skills, which I've missed doing at work. Installs are rising since I added postcodes based on which ones are visited by users that have installed the plugin (adding a postcode takes a while). I only publicise it here, so I don't expect it to rise much for a while. It's more or less my hobby, and the server acts as a nice heater in my spare room. I'm genuinely interested in what info people want/don't want in this plugin.
  2. I'll have a think. There's lots of ways to do it. I tried using Machine Learning, but it wasn't that successful TBH.
  3. It's a good idea. I'm rubbish at design though - is that a grafana thing there?
  4. An interesting side effect of my Chrome plugin is that you can see who is more desperate to sell by not only looking at price falls, but also those sellers who are trying to rent out at the same time. Take this property for example: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/136476896#/?channel=RES_BUY It's a flat in Central London on for just over a million. Here's the plugin's output: The first indicator is the price fall from 1075000 to 1050000 (2.3%), and that it's been on the market since June last year. It's also overpriced, based on similar sales (expected price is 844k). Similar properties also seem to have a lower price per square foot (note that the only one under offer is sub-1k/square foot, less than this property's 1169/square foot. The real sign of desperation is that it's been put on the market to rent at least 6 times at varying prices (the latest being particularly delusional). From this you can also (in theory) get an 'asking price yield', which in this case is 5.4% = (((4773 * 12) / 1050000) * 100). I'll post more example on this thread. If you have a postcode area you're interested in, let me know. There are currently 1404 similar properties that have been on the market for over a month in my database. Chrome plugin available here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB&pli=1
  5. I've made a number of significant changes to my Property Notes plugin: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf The backend has been sped up considerably, reducing the time taken to load All the changes are brought back at once, removing that annoying 'juddering' on the page as each table of info is added one at a time If you visit a property that hasn't been seen before, it will go and get the update within a minute If you visit a postcode that hasn't been visited before, it will go and include that postcode in the scan in the future (may take a while) This should make it a lot more useful. About half the nation is covered now with the most popular postcodes. If you're still not getting the postcodes you want let me know.
  6. The adding of postcodes is now automated - if you visit the page you want, soon after it will be filled out. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB Looks like Devon and Cornwall are popular among users, bits of Wales, and Edinburgh.
  7. Am busy adding more postcodes based on what users use. Up to now postcodes in the following areas have been added: Devon Cornwall Tyne and Wear South Yorkshire Wiltshire Merseyside Milton Keynes Warwickshire Essex Worcestershire West Midlands Leicester Lincoln Ipswich Leeds Surrey West Sussex If you're interested in getting your postcode(s) added, download the plugin and visit the rightmove postcodes you want - most popular postcodes get added first: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB
  8. OK, fixed it now. Turns out my nginx was cacheing old certs. Much of Leeds has been added. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB
  9. Requests (which were busy) seem to have stopped following an outage yesterday, can anyone just test it's all still working for them? https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB Have added Nuneaton and Bedworth, and some popular postcodes are coming up.
  10. Coventry has been added https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB Milton Keynes being added, Leeds coming up.
  11. Like I say, if you install it, and look at the properties you are interested in, it will be picked up quicker The plan is to do the whole of the UK, but this takes some time, so I'm prioritising users' needs.
  12. I've made some changes to this Chrome plugin recently: - I can now detect when properties are viewed on rightmove but not tracked yet. This allows me to figure out which areas are 'in demand' from users that have installed the plugin. The initial 'winners' are: Coventry and Milton Keynes so I'm going to add those soon. - The county of Hampshire has been added The areas now covered are: CENTRAL_LONDON GREATER_LONDON OUTER_LONDON INNER_LONDON OXFORDSHIRE READING KENT BRIGHTON_AND_HOVE EAST_SUSSEX BUCKINGHAMSHIRE WEST_BERKSHIRE HAMPSHIRE WEST_SUSSEX Link here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB
  13. They were cut by the market, then rose again: https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/government-bond-yield which is why the market is raising interest rates again. The BoE were right to hold steady.
  14. Make of these graphs what you will. They're based on the data I get from Rightmove with this plugin: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB&pli=1 Data is hard, but it seems that smaller properties are going on for higher price per square foot, but the raw average is down. I'm still not sure what it all means. Unlike the RM index, this does take into account price reductions.
  15. Oh Stewy, you are a one. Tell me, what's the 'normal' interest rate based on this graph? Even if you consider real interest rates, we're below 'normal', at least for the last 800 years... https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/working-paper/2020/eight-centuries-of-global-real-interest-rates-r-g-and-the-suprasecular-decline-1311-2018
  16. The index (as opposed to the YoY) January is generally down on December, so this is fairly unremarkable.
  17. Can you PM me the details of that property? I'll see what I can do to facilitate that use case.
  18. Thanks. Next target is completing South East counties but if there's demand I can move forward Newcastle postcodes.
  19. Here's an example: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/142791635#/?channel=RES_BUY you can in the grey there the 'Nearby similar sold properties' there's a couple that are 0.00 in distance. With flats you usually have to double check as they may be very similar but not the same. You'd need to keep a note of the ID though.
  20. Yeah it should do that already, since I believe the ID doesn't change between 'for sale' and 'sold'. I'll go hunting for an example. Unless you would like some kind of 'tracking' service that sends you a mail or something?
  21. East Sussex postcodes have been added https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/rightmove-property-notes/ddnkogahnfkgkechllbdfgacnkikddbf?hl=en-GB The plugin shows, for example, that this property in Brighton was on for 900K in Sept last year, then went on with two other EAs in November, and the original dropped its price to match the others in Feb. The fast-moving world of real estate! https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/86708652#/?channel=RES_BUY
