  1. Seems to be no. 91 and has had a fairly regular turnover, No. 89 also has a couple of sales recently. Maybe more fundamnetal problems. https://houseprices.io/thames-ditton/hayward-road
  2. She probably has no idea herself. Her spads will be trying to keep the plates spinning as long as possible, because they're out of a job once it fails.
  3. It will take some time to feed into the statistics. edit oops, already mentioned
  4. In Germany you are obliged to contribute to your parents care, although it is supposedly a quite modest amount for an average earner.

  6. Think of the misery that Ashford's school children have been spared. It could be that them being BTLers is actually the least harmful scenario.
  7. Films are full of stories about people moving (usually back to) to small town homeland and experiencing exactly this apparent contradiction.
  8. I thought you'd been claiming up to now we'll have to eat poisonous chickens if we hard brexit.
  9. Saw an interview with a health chap, who said most of the improvements in life expectancy were due to reduction in accidents, rather than the benefits of healthcare. Find it hard to believe when a million people are dying every year and I can only imagine accidents accounting for tens of thousands. I'd like to see some analysis of it though. Too lazy myself, obviously.
  10. Mildly amusing for a couple of minutes time wasting https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2018-pick-your-own-brexit/
  11. It always amazes me when I watch reality shows (I mean, just with public participation, eg Come Dine with Me, or A place in the Sun) I don't think I have ever seen a person with a useful productive job. Not that they're unemployed, they just have jobs that don't sound as if they are really contributing to making the world better.
  12. The vote was only 6:3 last time. Surely it's supposed to go 5:4 at least once before a rise? Forward guidance and all that, or smoke and mirrors, or nods and winks or whatever.
  13. Negative interest rates means any non depreciating asset is worth an infinite amount. Until it's market value gets so out of line that it collapses.
  14. And foreign immigrants. The chart is "internal" miration
  15. I know i really should get round to installing an ad-blocker, but surely no sane commercially or communitity minded person would thing such an annoying ad was going do anything but generate negative feedback? "Closing" it makes it drift away, but a few minutes later its back. (Hopefully I'm not the only one. Using somewhat out of date chromium)
  16. Until they have to rescue them again in the next financial crisis.

  18. German government furthering the pro cyclical property bubble madness. Subsidising house purchases with €12k per kid. Good to know they'Re as stupid as the rest of the world. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.zeit.de%2Fwirtschaft%2F2018-05%2Fgrosse-koalition-baukindergeld-union-spd-alexander-dobrindt-eigentum-erwerb (Google keeps saying "grandchildren", but it's just normal children)
  19. There seem to be plenty of houses, just most of them seem to be in undesirable areas. In the 80s or 90s, you could just ste your budget and whatever area you could afford to live in, would provide you with a satisfactory home and neighbourhood. Now most of the country has turned into badlands, so everyone wants to live in the few remaining habitable bits and the prices get bid up massively.
