  1. All you need to know is that they will be no more "affordable" than any other place. "Affordable" is just another stupid. meaningless, government cliche soundbite. They have absolutely no intention whatsoever of making housing "affordable". If that were the case, they would have addressed it long ago.
  2. I still have yet to work out exactly what the term "affordable housing" means. Anybody?
  3. His personal debt, I mean. Where is the evidence for that? The income stream articulated earlier should go a long way to sorting it, anyway.
  4. You really think Gordon Brown isn't raking it in? He may plead poverty but...... ".......the handout is on top of his generous expenses as an MP. He was paid £84,000 of the little known Public Duty Costs Allowance in 2010/11 and is entitled to a further £115,000 this year. The state handouts, set up by John Major in 1991 to help the recently deposed Margaret Thatcher, are offered to all former prime ministers for work such as answering letters or attending public events. Figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that since 2006 Mr Brown, Tony Blair, Mr Major and Baroness Thatcher claimed a total of £1.4million. In 2010/11 Mr Brown received £172,000 in salary and MP’s office expenses but made just one speech in the Commons. Mr Brown’s Commons register of interests shows that over the past 12 months, he was paid £630,000 for speeches to banks and other organisations......" The a$$hole is doing just fine. And there's inevitably more besides.
  5. Northern Rock 2008 x (choose a number). People queuing round the block to get their money. Banks can't cope, shut their doors. We weren't a million miles away from that, were we. You think your savings are safe now?
  6. Fine, but I can live in a house, however much it is depreciating. It isn't an investment. It is a home even if it goes from 200k to 20k. You would be pig sick of course, but not as much as if you didn't buy the house AND your savings are trashed. This is the connundrum right now, it seems to me. If you can rationalise that one, I would be glad to hear it.
  7. Much the same here, but he question of your cash fund being safe and secure in the bank has to be a concern, given that it seems the proverbial is about to hit the fan at any time. The 85k guarantee is extremely dodgy in current circumstances.
  8. In that case you would spread it between two or more unrelated banks / b. socs, wouldn't you? Not that it makes any difference. If TSHTF, the guarantee is worth about as much as the paper it is written on. That must be the biggest worry of all for STRs.
  9. Attractive at first sight, but as soon as she opened her Priti mouth, she was no longer. Plug ugly and pig ignorant, dim and stupid. Completely missed the point in her skirmish with Hislop who is in a class of his own when it comes to common sense. He looked at her and clearly regarded as a retard. Fair enough.
  10. Forget it. The government have absolutely no intention of making "affordable housing" available. It's just another meaningless political soundbite. And exactly what would a state sponsored "affordable house" be, anyway. For "affordable", read "cheap and nasty in an undesirable area?" Forgive my skepticism.
  11. On the contrary, Eric. It looks like they have learned very well indeed and are doing nicely, thank you.
  12. I don't get Dimbleby - or his ilk - at all. What's his brief at the BBC? What is he scared of?
  13. No power? Enough to be given a platform in mainstream media to spout his startling stupidity. And know that no-one will challenge his stupidity in mainstream press or TV. To 90% of the population, the remark would probably have passed straight over their heads and be considered unremarkable.
  14. Ooh scarey!! So they deploy their voting power. Then what happens? (Or are you tongue in cheek?)
  15. Confused yet? In my experience, asking for advice doesn't help. You've got 20 or so people suggesting different courses of action, but none of them will make you think "yes, of course, why didn't I think of that!?" That's what you want, but it won't happen. Only you can decide what is right for you. You can pick the bones out of the suggestions but will still do what you would have done in the first place anyway. There's no magic pill.
  16. Isn't three a rather young to be a father? Respec' though!
  17. Sexiest woman in the world? Oh please! Where are the curves? You know....bumps and stuff.
  18. So what WOULD he be doing? Oh...and "Ligger...... Music slang. Origin obscure, but has been in use since the 1970's A person who blags their way into parties, or back stage at music events just to get free food and drinks, and to bore their friends stupid with stories of 'how they met David Coverdale,' or 'hung out with members of Led Zeppelin." What the [email protected] are you on about?
  19. Good - he deserves to be rich. Good luck to him. Would you have the guts or the intellect to do what he does? The fact that you don't care what he says just says it all, doesn't it. He's obviously extremely intelligent and has the courage of his convictions. What better place to attack the EU than from within. I hope you retire rich and happy too, but on second thoughts I'm sure you wouldn't like that all would you........
  20. Unsure what you mean. Who is sanctifying him?
  21. Blimey! The way things are going in Europe, there's nowhere TO go that's any better than UK, even if it is [email protected], which it is.
  22. I don't understand why Farage is mocked and villified. Seems a good bloke to me. Says the things other politicians are thinking but haven't got the guts to say. And hugely articulate and erudite to boot. Seems to be a voice in the wilderness surrounded by scumbags and [email protected] And yet he is marginalised. Why?
  23. If Carlsberg specialised in stupid tips, this is probably the one they would use.
